Part of the fun of these polls is the slow reveal of the results, and if everyone posts their ballots, some OCD internerds will do the maths and work out what has won, killing the suspense (this has happened before). Why not keep this thread for PIMPIN' TRAX, and people can post their ballots when the results are in, should they wish?

Also, Get Myself Together is indeed great, and there's a nice Todd Terje edit of Glad To Know You on the B-side (which bizarrely I heard playing in Dudley's Pancake House near Finsbury Park - is it on a comp or something?). I'll check out that MORTEN SORENSEN song, too.

I like that his dad worked for the UN’s international maritime commission developing a love of dusty old NY disco . Cool job.

Jamie T Smith, Friday, 16 January 2009 10:35 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah 'get myself together' is great, had inexplicably forgotten about it! the herc & love affair rmx is excellent too.

Late pimping for the Zoot Woman single "We Won't Break", which otherwise might be lost given it is a free digital-only teaser from an album which has been delayed two years.

I'd absolutely love this decade of music if this was in fact the sound of today.

Also, I'm feeling old. Given that I've spent the year exploring ethnic and modern academic music, I've only heard 24 of the nominated albums, and only 12 of which I'd be excited to see on a year-end best of. I'm just sending in a list of those, and forgoing additional votes that would say more about my corner of ILM's demographics than exceptional music of the day.

Runaway - Brooklyn Club Jam (I think I like the Brennan Green version better, has a pretty piano line)

Loving Hand remix of Lykke Li - Little Bit. I've never heard the original, but this is beautiful.

the people not posting their ballots here will probably have entirely different votes and i doubt anybody on ilx would do what jamie said anyway. ILX isn't that bad.

I am not seeing enough love for THE CHAP - MEGA BREAKFAST on this thread. Please consider voting for it in your albums chart, people.

emil.y, Friday, 16 January 2009 17:10 (fifteen years ago) link

If it were half as good as Ham, I'd consider it.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 January 2009 17:14 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah i prefer it when people don't post their votes too, plus i am worried that some people are posting them here instead of emailing them to me?

how about we post ballots AFTER the poll to review instead of while we're waiting. i'll direct anyone who posts their ballot here to send it in via email if they forgot. i think the thread is better used for campaigning anyway.
