I don't remember ever going to an Arby's but I guess I must have because I distinctly remember my parents having several of these BC cartoon glasses that Arby's gave out as a promo item in 1981 and can now be bought on EBAY for $6.49

It's so weird, the random stuff we remember.

wait, andy warhol was gay?

arby's, my man. i love your jamocha shakes.
thanks for reading,
brownie

My parents had those glasses too. I think most of our glasses were fast food promo glasses.

a BC tie-in! that is so fucking low rent, i love it
― goole, Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:42 (eleven years ago) link
Oh, man, I totally remember those B.C. glasses.
Hey, arby's, thanks for being the only thing open in downtown Chicago that one Easter Sunday when I had to work. I could have starved to death, but your curly fries saved the day.
― Bob Bop Perano (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:43 (eleven years ago) link
LOL I can't believe other people remember those damn glasses. YAY! I swear we had at least one of those in our cupboards until at least 1990.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:45 (eleven years ago) link
I have never eaten at an Arby's but there's one a mile or so from my house and I took my son in there to go pee a few weeks ago. Smelled pretty nice (the sandwiches not the restroom).
― how's life, Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:46 (eleven years ago) link
haha. b.c. was like the most depressing comic strip ever. when i was growing up my older brothers had peanuts compilations, family circus books, garfield, etc. i would devour them. try as i might, though, i could never make it through this damn b.c. book that they had
also, am i making this up or wasn't johnny hart some way christian dude? if so why is his strip based on heretical evolutionary theories?
― dell (del), Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:46 (eleven years ago) link
lol I remember hearing a rumor about how all the "beef" shows up to Arby's in liquefied form.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 17 May 2012 18:47 (eleven years ago) link
^yes, i heard that too

Being Christian is bad enough for someone's who's the author of a comic strip called BEFORE CHRIST, but when you draw strips like these
http://thecereblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/bc-slam.jpg?w=500&h=180
you're really not doing any favors for anyone.

I mean, tons of great cartoonists are proudly religious, they just don't let it interfere with the humor of their profession.

As far as BC/Arby's is concerned, I've been tempted to start a thread devoted to those weird partnerships.
For example:

I stopped at a Roy Rogers on my way back to Toronto from NYC and I ordered a roast beef sandwich excitedly. It was like eating a cutout of a picture of an Arby's sandwich. The worst I've ever had. One bite and I threw it away :*( I was so hungry too.Jamoca shakes OTM. Those were like crack for me when I was a kid. Possibly because of the caffeine(??)

when i was a kid roast beef was just about my favorite food. i remember it being pretty decent at the roy rogers chains. arby's version though was like something you'd find in someone's shoe

One day I'm going to stumble into some regional Northern Plains fast food franchise and find the walls covered in Hi & Lois memorabilia. Then, I will set that place on fire.

lol FFM the bus between NY and Boston always stops at a Roy Rogers in CT which is also why they always smell like fried food. The buses, I mean.

hah! I was seduced by the lovely picture of The Perfect Roast Beef Sandwich but it ended up being the very worst. I need to get myself to an Arby's, it's been so long.

only one finger? those places are such ripoffs
― dell (del), Thursday, 17 May 2012 19:14 (eleven years ago) link
it was probably like just a knuckle or something
I worked in a deli and sliced off my finger tip (only a bit - it grew back) and I quickly told the customer 'I got hurt! She'll serve you!' and pointed to coworker but the guy followed me along the counter to first aid station asking me why I stopped "half way" :( Like, as my manager was washing and wrapping my bleeding finger! Dude. Figure it out (also I told him - albeit quickly because I was bleeding everywhere!)

did you any of you guys experience gino's? i guess it was a regional fast food chain that at one time anyway was licensed to sell kfc stuff.
one time i ordered chicken from them and it was pink. i half-expected to be munching onto veins after that.

i think, perhaps unfairly, that quiznos is the chain i would be most skeeved out to eat from.i think it's that they have a "qu" sound AND a "zuh" sound in their name. sounds weirdly genital.
