The name is from a crappy drawing of a robot that James Murphy did.

Hahaha the fact that this sentence exists is hilarious to me.

Don't forget dj shitmat.

Probably like that One Night in Berlin mix.

deej.. (deej..), Friday, 30 June 2006 14:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah the One Night in Berlin mix is good!

Michael if you like the Koivikko mix you might also like Jeff Samuel's mix disc on the last Poker Flat comp, volume 4. it's similar to the first half of Hot Pepper. Unlikely, but true!

I get the impression you like stuff that's thick, poppy, melodic and mutational

you summed up my taste in dance music better than i could there, tim! 'cept for the odd bit of ritchie hawtin. trentemoller's stuff is pretty good but unfortunately my crap speakers dont do it justice. 'sizzle' is on its tenth consecutive spin rite now.

on the Shit Robot tip you should probably get an album called "Aimee Tallulah Is Hypnotised" by The Emperor Machine

fez (fez), Friday, 30 June 2006 22:09 (seventeen years ago) link

i've heard some of that album and yeah, it's great

kitsuné maison 2
tiga/ajax: in the mix

as far as booka shade are concerned the fact that they are so well spoken of is indicative of the reasons i never really take recommendations.

priding oneself on ignoring others is a route only to curmudgeonly behaviour.

"tiga/ajax: in the mix"

Is this good Ronan? I have looked at it but was afraid it would be too, I dunno, straight down the line electro-house the whole way through. But I'm kinda prejudiced against Aussie DJs (Ajax) in this regard so this may be baseless.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 30 June 2006 23:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Ronan, i guess not ALL others.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 30 June 2006 23:49 (seventeen years ago) link

hopefully decent reply:

it WAS a curmudgeonly statement but also merely just an off the cuff/ hyperbolic one. you may think i'm a curmudeon and you wouldn't be all wrong just like i think you can be one at times and i wouldn't be all wrong either. but the fact that that post niggled me so much got me thinking, which is good. but here are posts on threads all over where i'm just hyperbolically excited and positive about stuff coming from every direction but you don't read those threads! (not an insult, they're mostly not dance threads [and i guess that's significant]).

FWIW, i think you're fantastic. you totally made mine & my friend sally's trip to Dublin last year a positive experience (in other ways it was a dud, for personal reasons). thanks!

i was going to email that last bit (as a peace offering) cos it's not relevant to the thread & also cos it's prob. v confusing for anyone else reading it, but what the hell.

peace out.

yo you is drunk.

they're mostly not dance threads

Jed, all cool, no worries, it was a snarky post from me also.

Tim yeah it's good, the Tiga mix anyhow, tho it is very much "electrohouse", I guess his Essential Mix is better actually but as far as released CDs go I suggested that one.

I sort of don't know why someone would be all electrohouse and no minimal now, it's actually hard to find the amount of good electrohouse records to do that now.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 1 July 2006 18:25 (seventeen years ago) link
