I recall someone going by the name of "Cockney Red" dissing the work of Momus post-1988, with Momus himself later naming the culprit as Alan McGee. As an occasional visitor round these parts, I never found out whether "Cockney Red" had responded in any way to confirm or deny this. Can anyone help?

tacit (tacit), Monday, 29 December 2003 17:25 (twenty years ago) link

IIRC Mick Farren posted once a couple of years ago, Did Kirk DeGeorgio post something once as well?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 29 December 2003 17:44 (twenty years ago) link

Tom Smith, of Ohne/To Live And Shave in L.A., etc. posted once, promising a TLASILA box set. Would be nice...

"Shameless Self Promotion - Lollies tour (1 matching message)

I am reasonably certain "denis" was not Alan McGee: I believe Momus was being amusing. Denis upthread shares an IP with someone who posted (once) as "cockney red"; but cockney red — this one or the "real" one — posted mainly from a different IP number. Maybe more than one. End of amazingly boring bulletin.

How about musicians/other famous people who have read your blog? I've had Mariza, all five members of The Scissor Sisters, Piret Jarvis from Vanilla Ninja, and Steve Harvey from Medium Medium.

> How about musicians/other famous people who have read your blog?

Members of Nuclear Valdez ("Summer") and Flaming Ember ("Mind, Body & Soul," "Westbound #9") have contacted me because of blog entries I made about them.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 21:13 (nineteen years ago) link

all five members of The Scissor Sisters

! What prompted that, or should I ask?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 21:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I reviewed a small club gig of theirs at The Cock Live in London in the Summer of 2003, which got me into the top ten on Google for "Scissor Sisters" for a while. Babydaddy sent me a nice friendly "thanks for the mention" e-mail shortly afterwards - then when they played The Social in December 2003 (small 200-ish capacity venue), I got talking to all of them afterwards, and discovered that all of them had read and remembered the review. It was, shall we say, a Moment.

I mentioned in the thread years later but still amused that this long running topic was started by a teenaged Will Sommer planning for college, years before he became a rather well known political journalist on the subject of Q in particular.
