Keith M, I really don't think it would matter if Stipe loved or hated that song, it's just really popular among the fans. I like it a lot - it makes a lot of sense to me. It just has that "favorite song" feeling to it.

But obviously, you've got it in for them, so why do I bother?

I never knew that about what the band said, but "Country Feedback" has always been one of my favourite R.E.M. songs. I don't agree that it's crap (obviously).

Along with "Nightswimming" and "Country Feedback," "World Leader Pretend" and "Find The River" scored very high when fans were requesting songs via the REM website on their last tour.

Another reason "Country Feedback" is very popular among fans - it's waaaaay better live.

Blur fan favorite - "This Is A Low," obviously!

i haven't got it in for them, i just remember it becoming very popular on prodigy back in the dark ages when the band proclaimed it their favorite from that mediocre record. kahoutek should be the fan fave, but maybe that's one for those who have it in for them since the band doesn't like that album.

Pinkerton owns this thread.

Weird. "Kahoutek" has always been one of my least favorite REM album tracks, ever since I was 12. I love Fables though, and so does REM. There have been a fair few interviews recently where Mike Mills in particular picks that as one of his favorite REM albums. There were playing a lot from that record on their last tour - "Feeling Gravity's Pull," "Maps & Legends," "Life And How To Live It," "Driver 8," and I'm pretty sure "Green Grow The Rushes."

Pavement (careful now!) - Greenlander (cos it's obscure innit!)
