Is it any wonder Santorum says he objects to President Obama saying all kids should work to go to college?
I though this was more of a sop to blue-collar tradesmen who're glad they have no student debt.

Yeah I think most of the right wing's policies are straight up economically driven. This guy can tell himself schools are hated because FACTS and SCIENCE vs. THE BIBLE but i think really it's that Republicans want to cut the hell out of spending and lower taxes for rich people.

It takes training for years to reject what is true. That training starts in a million Sunday schools and carries on through home schooling or private religious "education" and is completed in a hundred alternative Christian "colleges." It is sustained by a network of magazines like Christianity Today, World and many more. It has its own celebrity culture with heroes that no one outside the religious ghetto has heard of but who are selling literally millions of books to their followers.
This is Orwell's doublethink in action, i.e. setting up a comprehensive programme of deliberate misinformation, by people who actually seem to not realise that they have set up a network with the express purpose to mislead through lies and/or are perpetuating all that deliberate misinformation

He mentions that Schlafly's arguments are horrible b/c they're not arguments to persuade at all; they're more an inner re-affirmation of belief an recitation of tribal slogans. Dude does this shit to buck himself and his team up, not to convince others.

Joke sports are games that are poor substitutes for athletic endeavors that bring out the best in human achievement with a underlying purpose to the event. The inclusion of many joke sports in the 2012 Summer Olympics detracts from the serious events. The lamestream media publicize joke sport winners more than world records set in real sports, which distorts the legitimacy of the Olympics.Examples of joke sports include:BadmintonBeach volleyballBMX cyclingRhythmic gymnasticsSoccer[1]Synchronized swimmingSwimming relays[2]Table tennisWomen's boxing and wrestling

A note on terminology In the United States, "football" refers to American Football. Outside the United States, "football" refers to soccer
In the United States, "football" refers to American Football. Outside the United States, "football" refers to soccer
Evidently they've never seen Australians, New Zealanders, or Canadians play football....
Swimming relays are demoted to a "joke sport" because real relays use batons, but they don't use them in swim races. Duh - you'd whack the swimmer in the next lane with the baton with every butterfly stroke.
Damn liberals soiling the purity of relay sports by not requiring batons in the pool. It's yet another cog in the culture of permissiveness the liberal establishment is forcing on all of us through sport, comics, television, and music.

Women's boxing and wrestling
This is the most revealing (not that misogyny needs to be outed with these guys). Why would a sport shift from non-joke to joke just based on the gender of those involved. Well, whatever - they're an irrelevant bunch of anti-intellectual fools.

Let me explain where the socialism section came from. I had seen on the main page that day, there was a front page news entry from a blog (possibly two or three blogs) comparing soccer to socialism. I don't remember if the blogs were being serious or satirical, but it was on the front page of Conservapedia. I then happened to stumble on the Soccer article and noticed it had been changed to "a popular Socialist football sport" with no explanation given.
