even without their musical referents, these touch on different vibes in the whole "metal" aesthetic. "Those Beneath the Moaning Castle" is in the Eddison/Tolkien fantasy-oriented metal stream, which meets black metal at a lot of points: evocative, fodder for daydreaming. "Undigested Remains," that's a goregrind vibe, slasher-movie gross-you-out stuff. "In Ashen Tears (Thus I Cry)" feels like doom-goth stuff to me, the stuff that sells crazy numbers in Europe and whose vibe I just can't really ever lock into. "Invalid Prodigy" feels like a tech-death title, it's the one I'm most curious about so I checked it - slower death metal actually, quite good. But yeah - this feels like comparing the titles of science fiction books to horror books to spy novels or something, it's a pretty wide range of moods

too much doomy gloomy life-pain bullshit here. in deathless tombs of woe we moulder everlasting. bleah.

otoh, "german dental work", "crawling through broken children" and "fucking wizard" are awesome, even if the latter does sound like a ron weasley swear. "into the unfathomed tower" and "those beneath the moaning castle" have a nice, retro-nerdy AD&D vibe. "teeth of lions rule the divine" and "a shaving of the horn that speared you" are quite poetic (unsurprisingly sourced from earth and sunn). also like "pile of doubt", "tibetan quaaludes", and "too close enough to touch", though though they don't particularly metal.

had to go with "fucking wizard"
