one thing i didn't got to mention about "track 12" is that i think it's very possible that sheringham was TOTALLY LYING about what the recording was. there were no microphones in the headrest. he didn't record anything at all. it was a trap to see if maxted admitted it. (this theory would admittedly work better sans drugging...)

i really want to follow this again but i am away from my computer for the next month or so :|

the sheckley story is one that i had somehow melded 'the red brain' into in my head, because i have both of them in a (great) brian aldiss anthology called SPACE OPERA with some picture of a giant slime monster trying to grab a spaceship on the front. i might have said all this on the red brain discussion oh well

teh pinefox should note incipient ILX Sheckley appreciation, although Robert Sheckley RIP thread a few years earlier went relatively unnoticed.

we had half a plan to do a post-series special interviewing brian aldiss but life and work got in the way and now it's too late

Too bad that didn’t work out. Now trying to remember the Aldiss story about the guy in the time loop, no slightly ahead I think, if not behind. “Man in His Time,” I guess.
