i actually think that the remix is kinda hot, just drags a bit when sean and jada come on -- i would've been fine w/ just pusha and kanye (whose verse is great), but that's not how kanye rolls

frogbs in the trap (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 13:52 (eleven years ago) link

haven't heard it but i refuse to believe there's a remix where pusha t is better than jadakiss

Neil Young’s social media channels (some dude), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 14:00 (eleven years ago) link

they're about equal on this song -- i was just saying that cuz the order is pusha -> kanye -> keef -> big sean -> jada, and it feels like they could've just cut it off after keef's verse and been done w/ it

frogbs in the trap (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 14:06 (eleven years ago) link

jadakiss sounds horrible on it. in his christian bale batman voice, to quote martorialist

the new beat is pretty corny. "OHHH OHHH OH"

jada's hair must be cursed

don't know about that asap ferg, wish it sounded more like his verse on kissin pink

flopson, Thursday, 3 May 2012 15:36 (eleven years ago) link

i like that song but yeah it's a little too based for my tastes. would like to see him do more melodic rider rap.

extracted from the gay rapper thread but unlike a lot of that stuff it works decontextualised from that scene/as a straight-up club rap banger

FEATURING CHICAGO ARTIST

frogbs in the trap (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 6 May 2012 22:39 (eleven years ago) link

are you familiar with my decade-long crusade against people in hip hop constantly using the word "artist" without an s at the end as if it's plural

some dude, Sunday, 6 May 2012 22:47 (eleven years ago) link

lol, yes. yes i am.

is this the first time meek mill has done a "meek will inherit the earth" line?

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:14 (eleven years ago) link

"burn" is O_O amazing

the first meek song that hooked me in had church bells as a beat too, "gasoline". more people should do that

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:21 (eleven years ago) link

"a1 everything" is stunning as well

oh god people misspelling "used to be" as "use to be" is such a pet hate of mine WHYYYYYYYY

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:29 (eleven years ago) link

Proper English pls.

MikoMcha, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:41 (eleven years ago) link

this new killer mike record is so great.

suidavyvan eht nioj (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 15:10 (eleven years ago) link

Meek Mill tapes sound like they have a lot of work going into them. Maybe one day I'll listen to one twice

suidavyvan eht nioj (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 15:11 (eleven years ago) link

as opposed to...lil b tapes that sound like there's no effort going into them?

i find meek mill effortlessly enjoyable and listenable - i guess it sags towards the end but yknow it's a mixtape. the high points are stunning

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 16:25 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, i prefer it to the first dreamchasers... i think you get a bit better sense of who he is as an artist

frogbs in the trap (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 17:30 (eleven years ago) link

1st dream chasers is wayyy better. nothing on this touches 'im a boss' or 'middle of the summer' or 'tony story'

man down (D-40), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:36 (eleven years ago) link

This seems more consistent though

Number None, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:37 (eleven years ago) link

yeah this is more consistent... i'd buy the argument that there's not a "middle of the summer" or a "tony story" but there's a lot of average songs on there w/ beats and hooks that could've been on half the mixtapes that come out in any given week

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:40 (eleven years ago) link

this one starts to fall off after "the ride" but until that it's much stronger up and down -- the production is a lot more distinct, for one

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:41 (eleven years ago) link

i dunno. i'm looking for something i'll actually want to hear on the radio all year round. too many 'lean wit it's not enough 'i'm a boss's

man down (D-40), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:51 (eleven years ago) link

"lean wit it" has grown on me. still need to hear the tape, though.
