There's really nothing else quite like it, and nothing else this band ever released matches it. Or almost any other band, really.

agree completely. they're a great band, and it's a great record overall, by far their best, but that song is just...THAT SONG. once in a lifetime thing.

Everytime I listen to Electrelane, I really question why I need to listen to anything else. ever.
especially this song.

yeah but this song is an anomaly. i love it to bits and i love electrelane, but for different reasons.

this song is amazing, but the recording seems to clip at the end and that always drives me crazy

so I found The Power Out for $6 in the "New Rock Sale Vinyl" bin at Salzer's. It made my weekend. I love this song so much. The rest of the album is great too.

Somehow wish Electrelane had done an album that was pretty much variations on this song.

"Take My Wife" by Seekonk builds to a "The Valleys"-esque crescendo.
