Hutton handled off the line earlier, then I'm sure it was him headed off the line a few minutes after that too.

Cuellar boss

just calculated that mcleish' teams have scored 151 goals in 150 epl games

Ms Tum-Bla-Wi-Tee (nakhchivan), Saturday, 28 April 2012 16:07 (twelve years ago) link

Villa aren't even in long-term decline, it was only a couple of years ago they were in the running for the top four.

Bonkers day all round really. What the hell has Roberto Martinez done at Wigan?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Saturday, 28 April 2012 16:30 (twelve years ago) link

Urgh. Stupid defensive mistake by Norwich, and Liverpool are 1-0 up.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 16:56 (twelve years ago) link

Could see us taking the season out on Norwich today, looks like we've got an idea for once.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:00 (twelve years ago) link

And again. Fuck sake. 2-0

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:00 (twelve years ago) link

2-0 as I type that, sublime finish. Walcottesque.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:00 (twelve years ago) link

great finishes

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:03 (twelve years ago) link

Absolutely. Suarez obviously annoyed by the comparison that Holt has scored more than he and Carroll combined...

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:04 (twelve years ago) link

Ref feeling sorry for us in the latter stages of that half I feel - got the benefit of some decisions that could have made this even more depressing at half time.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:20 (twelve years ago) link

when/who are chelsea playin? have a feelin they'll make this an even better weekend for us

diafiyhm (darraghmac), Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:27 (twelve years ago) link

They're home to QPR. Not sure if that's good or bad for Spurs?

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:28 (twelve years ago) link

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:41 (twelve years ago) link

O_o how did Shelvey miss there?

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:44 (twelve years ago) link

I mean, phew, but...

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:44 (twelve years ago) link

thats the finishing we know and love

kid steel (cajunsunday), Saturday, 28 April 2012 17:46 (twelve years ago) link

Fuck you Newcastle and your fucking fuck of a fucking loss to fucking Wigan. One fucking favour. That's all I asked. And you fucking lost. You and your fucking fantastic form and your fucking fantastic finishers. Fuck you.

Right, got to get something at Chelsea tomorrow.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:04 (twelve years ago) link

well fuck me

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:11 (twelve years ago) link

motherfucker.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:11 (twelve years ago) link

ever seen a better hat trick goal?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:12 (twelve years ago) link

3 amazing strikes.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:12 (twelve years ago) link

So sad right now.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:12 (twelve years ago) link

nice to see suarez being more technically perfect than usual

wigan had blackburn and wolves after this week anyway so i'd marked them down as out of the mix already tbh. still annoyed by their shitty existence of course

result is p good in a way cos we needed spurs perked up for blackburn/bolton/villa. dare i say it but rangers' fate is in their slippery hands

r|t|c, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:27 (twelve years ago) link

and nevermind blues and city, knowing us all too well it's the stoke game i'm seriously bricking it about

r|t|c, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:31 (twelve years ago) link

haha gerrard saying naughty words on live tv. ban him for the cup final!

Chris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:35 (twelve years ago) link

i think that's the best lob i've ever seen

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:37 (twelve years ago) link

Nayim>>>>>>>that

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:40 (twelve years ago) link

Ronaldinho lobbed free kick also vs Seaman >>>>>> that

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:41 (twelve years ago) link

nah

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:41 (twelve years ago) link

Nayim was kind of a hit and hope. Ronaldinho we'll never truly know if he meant it

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:42 (twelve years ago) link

Suarez lob was great but it was against Norwich in a dead rubber and the keeper was miles out. Context and opposition as well as technique make the others better.

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:43 (twelve years ago) link

I don't think Suarez meant that one... Ok, now I'm clutching at straws; it was an awesome finish. (Ruddy for England!). Why did he have to find form against us? Especially in the game where we could have caught them on points. I can see Norwich surviving solely on Goal Difference now, on this current run of form vs. the form of some of the embattled teams below us.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:44 (twelve years ago) link

Ronaldinho we'll never truly know if he meant it

Ah you'll be one of those English Men.

I suppose it happening before everyone (English) realised he could do that shit week-in week-out made it doubtable at the time but surely the next six years kind of showed that of course he fucking meant it he was the best player in the world.

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:45 (twelve years ago) link

dinho's was completely and obviously intentional. Don't know where that comes from.

diafiyhm (darraghmac), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:46 (twelve years ago) link

number none is one of those englishmen from donegal iirc

diafiyhm (darraghmac), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:48 (twelve years ago) link

That's some awesome pessimism xp - you'd need three straight wins for Bolton & QPR, apart from your own form. If it actually happened, you'd've given up your goal advantage too most likely.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:48 (twelve years ago) link

English papers at the time were all "fluke goal" - truly bizarre efforts at passing it off as a lucky miss-hit cross.

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:48 (twelve years ago) link

no need to to accuse me of being English

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:49 (twelve years ago) link

Did not know where Number None was from, sorry - I've only ever heard victims of that goal calling it anything other than brilliant.

we are not bemused (onimo), Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:49 (twelve years ago) link

Obviously Ronnie meant it - what's the alternative, he overhits a gentle twenty-yard lob by nearly twenty yards, and finds the top corner by a million-to-one chance?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:50 (twelve years ago) link

It's quite a different technique anyway. Suarez is on the run

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:50 (twelve years ago) link

Even Beckham was standing still when he hit his

Number None, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:51 (twelve years ago) link

nayim's does seem more hit n hope but idk that feels like such an irrational thing to say when he decided what to do and put it in the exact place it needed to go

i think maybe there are just certain illusions of perfect execution when it comes to lobs. agree that suarez's is more satisfying anyway, and yeah maybe it is the being on the run

best is le tiss v schmeichel 4ever (or are we gonna be hardcore about chips v lobs?)

r|t|c, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

Oh yeah, you can rely on some solid pessimism from me. Just can't see us taking anything from Arsenal. Honestly, though, I do feel confident we should take something from Villa, but who knows. We've just been so close to 'mathematical safety' for so long, and squandered our subsequent chances.

CraigG, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

fuck me we won a league game. kenny in.

Chris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:53 (twelve years ago) link

xposts. just get a poll on the go already

Chris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:53 (twelve years ago) link

Phillippe Albert vs Seaman was a peach too - on the run but closer in and well disguised vs top opposition in a big match.
