I wish it were February and we were having a huge blizzard.

Haha I just saw the most awesome walk of shame guy slink off the El at Belmont. 20-something, looked like shit and was wearing a beer-stained t-shirt, jeans, and flip flops. When the train pulled in, he was leaning against the door with his eyes shut. LOL

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Saturday, 28 April 2012 13:41 (eleven years ago) link

R had a similar guy on her train to work recently. Said he passed out and half fell down, people were freaking out and calling the train operator trying to get them to stop but it was really obvious the kid was still drunk from the night before, reeking of booze etc.

Alternative titles for the Central Lake View video:

"We aren't kidding when we say Chicago is really segregated."

Also, TS: Central Lake View song v. "Chicago"

wolf kabob (ENBB), Sunday, 29 April 2012 03:10 (eleven years ago) link

Which hotel did you end up at?

caro's johnson (Eazy), Sunday, 29 April 2012 06:15 (eleven years ago) link

Damn, I was near Jake's at 8 but just saw this now.

caro's johnson (Eazy), Sunday, 29 April 2012 06:16 (eleven years ago) link

We were never really at Jake's. I dragged the Erica, the husband, and the 'rents to the Billy Goat below Michigan and Wacker. You know... the real one.

We drank until Erica's husband loosened up a bit, which is a good bit of drinking.

Eazy - the Conrad. It is pretty nice!

wolf kabob (ENBB), Sunday, 29 April 2012 15:15 (eleven years ago) link

Great location -- puts you in the middle of things. The Jazz Record Mart is about two blocks away, very fun place to browse a bit.

caro's johnson (Eazy), Sunday, 29 April 2012 16:03 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah. It is p great.

The mayor’s casual-look upgrade included a laid-back meeting at his City Hall office. That’s where personal denim adviser, David Shelist, owner of popular jeans boutique The Denim Lounge, took Emanuel’s measurements for the perfect casual fit.

I think Rahm having a 31" inseam is vanity sizing. No way dude is that tall.

Jeff, Monday, 30 April 2012 13:28 (eleven years ago) link

everything about that guy is phony
i should know, considering my background and continued high standing in the denim advisory industry.

hi guys

do you ever wish you could be banned from all of ilx except for the chicago threads? i do.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:12 (eleven years ago) link

no, most of ilx I find so aggrieving I hardly ever end up looking at it

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:14 (eleven years ago) link

the problem is i get really bored at work and i have no self-control

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:15 (eleven years ago) link

I have never wished that. It's not too hard to avoid threads I don't like. Maybe you should just poke yourself with a thumb tack every time you enter one.

Jeff, Monday, 30 April 2012 15:16 (eleven years ago) link

I think the key is to stay off of the threads that people who basically ilx ~all day~ frequent

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:16 (eleven years ago) link

also the threads where people ~do this~

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:16 (eleven years ago) link

~like me~

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:17 (eleven years ago) link

I've been really enjoying clusterfuck threads these days. I honestly wish I had more time to participate in them, but damn, arguing on the internet is a huge time commitment. It's like a full time job and I already have one of those.

Jeff, Monday, 30 April 2012 15:18 (eleven years ago) link

i think you guys just need to post a lot more so i don't get bored enough to wander over to other threads. or i need a job that occupies more of my attention.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:18 (eleven years ago) link

i have rarely gotten that aggravated, and any time i have raised a fuss i have almost immediately regretted it.

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

ilx never really aggravates me, though maybe that's just because I never get very involved? It is obviously a huge time-suck though

hi guys

do you ever wish you could be banned from all of ilx except for the chicago threads? i do.

I feel that way right now.

you need my mayday playlist

Some of you downtown workers should come with me to help me choose glasses some day. The guy at my optician's place was VERRRRRY nice and VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRY!!! helpful and I need a buffer and some advices. He gave me free contacts (beyond the trial pair) and extra boxes of free solution and he said that he would give me even more free contacts when they got another pair in and then he kept showing me glasses and telling me how great I looked.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:45 (eleven years ago) link

ChiLX's optician is great, and that guy is nice, but he's a little much. I don't want to sound horrible, especially when he's already given me about $25 worth or free contacts.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:56 (eleven years ago) link

Was he flirting? Do you go to Level still?

I'll help you pick out glasses.

I'm thinking about getting contacts again, mostly because my eyes are getting worse and I think I might be able to see better with them? I just have to get better and installation and removal.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:57 (eleven years ago) link

i def see better with contacts

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:57 (eleven years ago) link

since i only wear my glasses when i'm about to go to bed, i have this physiological response where wearing my glasses makes me sleepy. i wore my glasses to work last week and i felt pleasantly sleepy all day.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 15:58 (eleven years ago) link

Glasses are just terrible. If it were 1988 and I wore glasses bigger than my face, they wouldn't be so bad, but today's small lenses cause such distortion.

Yes I go to L3v3l. I was not saying the name b/c that guy is going to find me. IDK if he was flirting. Maybe.

I'd love to get Lasik surgery. Even after seeing a video of the procedure;laksdf;kajlsdf. Courtney said that someone she works with or something got Lasik WITHOUT sedatives. ;__; I would absolutely not let that happen.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:02 (eleven years ago) link

One of my coworkers got LASIK and has been happy (autocorrect capitalization there). She bought a Groupon!!! I would not do that. But I don't want LASIK either.

Oh she was awake for it. I don't even think they did twilight sleep or anything. Just numbing.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:06 (eleven years ago) link

you have to be mostly cognizant because it takes like ten minutes and then they immediately have you read things on the wall!

mh, Monday, 30 April 2012 16:12 (eleven years ago) link

Bah.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:15 (eleven years ago) link

i had an idea for the weekend after my birthday, which was to reserve a rehearsal space at music garage for the entire day and invite all of my friends to drop in anytime during the day and just have a day-long jam session and record as much of it as possible. but i can't decide if this is a good idea or a terrible idea. i'm usually pretty worn out after a 2-hour music session. maybe it should just be a few hours. or maybe it shouldn't happen at all.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:34 (eleven years ago) link

You don't have to play the whole time so you might not be as tired. I think it sounds cool.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/11751201-418/the-chicago-areas-20-most-dangerous-intersections.html

Surprised at #1, that's not far from my work. It sucks, but I wouldn't have guessed it's tops.

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:52 (eleven years ago) link

I would do LASIK with a Groupon if it were at a place where I would normally pay full price. Why not?

It was my understanding that they give you Valium or whatever. Not like twilight, but a calming agent. I would not let anyone use a speculum to hold my eye open and then CUT OPEN A FLAP OF MY CORNEA and then shoot lasers at my eye without some sedative. No fucking way.

xps

Nick, that sounds fun.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:53 (eleven years ago) link

The only one of those intersections that I ever have to deal with is Roosevelt & Canal, which is pretty congested, but I'm still surprised it's so high.
