Finally got the eShakti dresses after seven weeks
They do not fit ;_; I can get into them but maaaan are they tight. Just when I was feeling great for losing weight! Sigh.

How do you choose your size? do you take your measurements and match them to their sizing chart or do you get the custom sizing?

just1n3, Thursday, 26 April 2012 23:03 (twelve years ago) link

I did the time before, but it was too big so I ordered a size down. Dumb dumb. it doesn't have as much stretch as it implied because of this sewn-in belt :p I bought two, in different patterns. Perfect otherwise.. I'll keep them as presents for when all this healthy eating pays off.

her stores have been having continuous, gigantic sales since before Xmas.

Just got my bridesmaid dress in the mail for best friend's wedding this summer. Friend picked 'em out.

http://maur.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMAUR1-11903147v275.jpg

I am totally ***shocked*** that it fit perfectly.* Cotton for outdoor wedding, only $40, can wear it other places and shit.

*tiny bit too roomy in the bust but this problem is way less notable than normal

That is adorable.

It even covers up my weird cabbage patch knees. Like, too perfect. Thank you the god.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Saturday, 28 April 2012 00:09 (twelve years ago) link

aw super cute!
i suppose you could wear a lightly padded bra is the bust is too roomy?
lol "cabbage patch knees"! that smacks only of cuteness imo

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Saturday, 28 April 2012 00:18 (twelve years ago) link

that is a great bridesmaid dress and your friend is awesome for not making you spend tons of $$ on an ugly POS that you'll never wear again. i want to post pics of the dresses my NZ friend made her bridesmaids wear, bc they look like maternity-wear for 6o-yr olds.

just1n3, Saturday, 28 April 2012 01:03 (twelve years ago) link

omg i found my DREAM dress on eShakti but I might customize to make sure it really is perfect. IT HAS A COLLAR, PEOPLE. ITS A-LINE. ITS GOT A BANDED WAIST. FUCK!

I promise I'm a regular poster here so I'm uncomfortable with how spammy this seems, but at the same time being a poster here (ILM,ILV,ILE pretty exclusively) makes this an obvious network to at least TRY, gasp.

Anyway, I work for a fashion designer now, her website just launched and I'm promoting from a clean slate as far as online presence goes. Any advice for me? Do you like the dresses?

I like the Mod dress and the High Society top a lot but would not buy them because they do not come anywhere close to my size.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Thursday, 10 May 2012 23:46 (eleven years ago) link

Seconding the Mod dress.

Bought three, THREE vintage black dresses from a store I'd never noticed before last Saturday! Fave is a-line with a gold/silver butterfly woven onto the front. Need to take pics.

ljubljana, Friday, 11 May 2012 00:08 (eleven years ago) link

Oh no! I'm sorry about the size options, but I'm glad you like them. Money is tight early on so hopefully we can make more options available in future collections. We're going to get jewelry going soon, too. It's all very exciting and daunting to launch a website.

Evan, Friday, 11 May 2012 02:15 (eleven years ago) link

I like the Mod dress, too.

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 11 May 2012 02:19 (eleven years ago) link

Thanks! If you like it enough to tell others about it, please do. :)

Evan, Friday, 11 May 2012 04:11 (eleven years ago) link

what fabric is that? I really like the decoration.

sarahell, Monday, 14 May 2012 19:47 (eleven years ago) link

Almost thought that was one of ours cause of the style.

Very nice though!

i can't wear that color but it's v pretty

Yes, not everyone can wear tan or cocoa, I am olive-skinned so fortunately I can wear it.

Let me know if I'm getting annoying, but I'd urge anyone who likes that dress to at least check out the designer I work for if you already haven't. It's too similar for me to resist mentioning. www.claudiapatel.com

(I hope the fact that I'm this paranoid about looking like spam is enough for you all to forgive me!)

simple & pretty & maybe too bright for me but I say BRING IT!

MAY125 is their 12.5% discount for the month, I had a $150 gift card and these two plus a skirt came to $170, I paid $2.99 after gc & discount (I did pay my friend for the gc.. $112 for $150). All in all I paid about $115 for two dresses and a skirt, which is much closer to what I am comfortable paying. I'm cheap and we need a house, not more dresses (or so I *hear*)

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 13:42 (eleven years ago) link

Haha. Get used to that

game of crones (La Lechera), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:27 (eleven years ago) link

Yep, but the store here still needs a hand and I need dresses so win-win.

kate78, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:29 (eleven years ago) link

Dressing up for work is gonna be so fun.

kate78, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:31 (eleven years ago) link

win win indeed!
i feel like i need some new clothes, but really i just need to make some plans so i have a place to go in a dress.

game of crones (La Lechera), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:31 (eleven years ago) link

but you can go pretty much anywhere in a dress!

sarahell, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:39 (eleven years ago) link

game of crones (La Lechera), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:41 (eleven years ago) link

game of crones (La Lechera), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:42 (eleven years ago) link

i really like the black one! i have a top like that (actually i have 3 that are v similar), that i've wished for years was the bodice of a dress like the one you posted

sarahell, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:59 (eleven years ago) link

oh man i love those, esp the black one
does it come with boobs?

game of crones (La Lechera), Friday, 18 May 2012 17:00 (eleven years ago) link

one is free with one iirc

sarahell, Friday, 18 May 2012 17:00 (eleven years ago) link

I found that her dresses are always cut to really flatter/accentuate the twins.

kate78, Friday, 18 May 2012 17:05 (eleven years ago) link

Nowhere near as exciting as Betts, but I just bought this and I'm super stoked because it's like a dress that someone made from a thought I was having about a dress I wanted:

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Friday, 18 May 2012 18:02 (eleven years ago) link

That is huge. Sorry!

Side note: I have a megacrush on that model.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Friday, 18 May 2012 18:02 (eleven years ago) link

Oooh Jen-nee, that is sweet.

Especially with those improbable ankle boots, it sharpens the whole outfit right up.

Let's be real, I will wear that dress with the dumpy mary jane flats that I wear every day, but I like knowing that I could step it up with ankle boots if the urge hit.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Friday, 18 May 2012 18:05 (eleven years ago) link

I believe you have some sweet heels that were purchased for a certain special occasion last year...?

reeeeeeeeeeeeeed ones!
