just a few years back it felt like a baby-boomer rock star's death was an unusual thing, now it's happening everyday. a helpful reminder of how short our lives are.

Chris Ethridge was in the International Submarine Band, too, although he may not have played on "Blue Eyes," my favourite song by them--he joined after it had already been out as a single (but before the album was completed).

was looking through my collection last night - i've got a lot of chris ethridge! randy newman, ry cooder, burrito bros, graham nash., that dave mason solo album... wonder what his contribution to those parsons co-writes was. I mean, if you were going to pick the best Parsons songs to have co-writes on, those'd be up there.

Burrito Deluxe is pretty under-rated in the FBB/Parsons canon. "Older Guys"..."Lazy Days"..."Man In The Fog"...

errr, he really is barely keeping it together. that recent post-parsons gig they put out is a lot more solid rhythmically.

i guess i might put burrito deluxe in front of grievous angel, but i have come around hard on gp. great record.

These guys are a bit of a blindspot for me, despite loving a lot of similar stuff from that era. Gilded Palace of Sin is the one to start with, right?
