There's a puzzle here, I can't figure it out.

It's a Turing Machine.

Got it. You have to change the program at the bottom so that the 5 digit target in the top right matches the number on the main tape. There are 6 levels, each one corresponding to a letter in 'Google', which lights up when you've figured out the sequence for that letter.

I just sat and watched my housemate solve the damn thing in 5 mins flat, explaining to me what he was doing, and I had no effing idea what was going on.
