john faine on the wireless before on the greg ham tip, "we'll talk about a man who was responsible for songs that were part of the aussie vernacular", it's obviously awful what's happened to him but raking over someone's depression and alcoholism and bigging him up as a genius for playing on two big hits (one basically a novelty) is seriously NAGL

John Faine is spectacularly annoying I have come to realise, and Im a fan of left wing talk radio. But geez he is sanctimonious. And he always takes over ppls stories and tells his own! Fuckin.

He ran a guest lecture in my media degree in the '90s and was really impressive cf. the smug jock he is now.

i idly wondered the other day if 'going ham' might take on a new meaning in the light of the greg ham thing but it was decided by all that it might be "too soon"

Yeah I misread too, this *is* second time since he's been in Miami. As well as the current court action here for earlier shenaigans. Poor bastard. He's clearly p ill.

At least he's taking the appropriate steps to deal with it.

I have to admit I really havent been paying this Slipper crap any attention. Politician gets accused of grubby tactics/cheating/spending govt money, news at 11. Who cares anymore, they all do it.

also his disgracing removes the goverment's balance of power, that's a minor thing that probably won't affect the country in any way though, nbd who cares

well, there is that

$1 tarkus (haitch), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:09 (twelve years ago) link

Well again, tbh I dont care, not because its nbd but because honestly, we have zero good governance on either side of the fence anymore and it is utterly depressing.

fix it with like some music glue (Trayce), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:12 (twelve years ago) link

That said I do NOT want Abbott being PM, that makes me feel sick even thinking of, jesus why couldnt Turnbull be their leader if idiots insist on voting Lib idk

What do you think the Gillard government - separate from the internal powerplaying of the Labor Party - is doing wrongly or ineptly

┗|∵|┓ (sic), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:37 (twelve years ago) link

To be honest, in actuality probably very little (though the mining tax backdown pissed me off). But Gillard is giving the perception, at least, of being incompetent and not in control. Wether it is true or not, the rabble are buying it, and people who would probably have voted lab for years are gonna vote lib (or *maybe* greens?) out of disgust. She has no command, no real strong leadership vibe. Which I hate saying, because it comes over as "lol girl" which isnt why. She's just... gah. I dont know. I'm really not well versed in political details, I'm happy to admit that.

fix it with like some music glue (Trayce), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:50 (twelve years ago) link

giving the perception, at least, of being incompetent and not in control.

is probably #1 in what they are doing wrong, for me

suburban buttshaven cannibal (electricsound), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:51 (twelve years ago) link

The NBN is another example of "things people just dont understand". You see tons and tons of people angry about it, blaming Gillard (christ knows why), thining its a "waste of money" and will be "redundant" soon which is laughable, because as people point out, unless someone comes up with a way to go faster than light, it wont be.

fix it with like some music glue (Trayce), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 01:53 (twelve years ago) link

giving the perception, at least, of being incompetent and not in control.

see this was the thing I was specifically caveating - imo this perception is coming 100% from Labor powermavens and especially their press stooges (and whatever Grattan is), not from anything to do with Gillard's actual policies or parliamentary process

o s– man (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:03 (twelve years ago) link

What do you think the Gillard government - separate from the internal powerplaying of the Labor Party - is doing wrongly or ineptly

- marriage
- boats
- always responding to abbott as though he is running the country and she isn't
- total lack of consistency, leadership and vision

o s– man (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:05 (twelve years ago) link

and especially their press stooges

Yeah there is definitely something very on the nose with the way politics and related is being reported in all the media here, in recent years. Perhaps ever 'twas thus, and I'm just noticing it now, I dont know.

fix it with like some music glue (Trayce), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:31 (twelve years ago) link
