I actually own all that stuff. If I made an aspirational list it would have a lot more Tahari on it, but since I can only wear petites and certain dress shapes, that's not enormously likely.

I own the high-end stuff mentioned upthread but generally don't even consider buying anything unless there's a discount of about 70%. This means i end up with lots of slightly strange things nobody else really wants, but that suits me.

Haven't bought new clothes in about 2 years, but those are my old standbys. Standard is clothing that looks good on a small frame, which puts Gap, Banana Republic, and most other stores out of consideration.

My style is boring business wear during the week and complete disaster after work (we're talking draw string pants and tees that are beat to shit from working around the house/garden).

Boring business brands that find their way in to my wardrobe frequently are the Kleins (Anne and Calvin), Banana Republic, J. Crew for suiting and pretty much the same lineup for boring business dresses. Work shoes are all over the map, but at home I am far to frequently in Naots, an Israeli "comfort shoe" brand that feel great but my husband LOATHES. To offset the Naots he has bought me two pairs of classic Louboutins (pumps and boots), which I wear on the rare fancy occasions.

Husband is way more styley than I--he loves Epaulet for shirts and pants and Alden for shoes--and recently bought me this great pleated coral skirt that I think Laurel would love! I think I may just turn over all of my wardrobe-ing to him, actually.

Oh it's so bright and cute! I love knife pleats. I worry about sitting on them all day flattening them out, but they seem to do okay...?

Yeah the Naots are mostly pretty terrible looking, but I have bad feet and a bad back, give a girl a break!

The pleats are what made me think of you! The fabric is actually kind of substantial, I don't really know how to describe it, but it holds the pleats really well despite sitting-upon.

Ann Taylor is the other Ann, but daria-g has forever turned me against that brand. . .

If I had tons o' wardrobe money I would have nothing but custom-made suits. I love beautifully made suits, but they are rare as hens teeth in my price range.

Hugo Boss and Akris sometimes have stuff I like, but then I look at the price tag and walk away.

i also used to own like 9 pairs of nike sb mids but ive sold them all since i dont think i can pull them off anymore. the only nikes i kept are some jordan iv reissues
i like shoes too much to only buy one or two brands but i have three pairs of cole haans and three pairs of bob cousy los
theres also some nameless brand of cashmere sweaters that my grandmother has been buying for me since i was 14, i have probably 10 of them they dont have a label in them but theyre heavy and soft and perfect, probably my favorite pieces of clothing, i am wearing one rn

when i have a husband i want him to buy me awesome clothes and shoes too!

I like this jacket because (and no offense intended!) it reminds me of a signature piece of clothing an anime character might have

even if i buy XL, everything from those brands is too tapered and skinny. those are popular brands w/ skinny dudes and asians because they look nice on smaller people but if you're tall and broad-shouldered and long-limbed SUPER-MUSCULAR like me (i also have long arms) they are always too tight and short.

i do have one nice XL apc dress shirt that i got for $50 at a barney's sale but i can't button the neck and the sleeves only go about 3" from my wrists, so if i wear it to work i wear a t-shirt underneath and i always roll up the sleeves.

Man, shopping is serious business for you guys. I don't have enough patience to seek out sales. I think that's what I must be doing wrong. Gonna cultivate some.

ah god my gf has ruined like six of my lacoste polos by putting them in the dryer.

they shrink like two sizes in length and one in width so even if i buy size 8 to be able to use the dryer the shirts would still be too wide

i stick to polo polos now because they're pre-shrunk

what's the big deal with uniqlo? Their stuff looks really generic and boring.

I guess I was super into H&M for a while when they first opened one here, but their stuff seemed more fun and slightly "trashy"
