We are loading everything in a truck in June and putting it in storage through July while we roam. Then we'll start apartment searching and hope to be in an apt by Sept.

tonight i eat freshly made carne asada tacos tho (by a real chef person and everything) so yknow i can get past my feelings and move forward in this life. full of tacos. also my co-homebrewing compatriot bought a propane burner today so we can brew outdoors and up our quantities to 20 gallon batches this summer. so that rules.

What am brew day?

my buddy's dad is a super serious home brewer. like, his garage is given over to it. every couple months it is brew day, wherein we go and "help" him brew by which I mean drink what's last of the last batch and eat jalapeño stuffed pheasant breast wrapped in bacon

I've decided that brew day is the most important holliday and it happens randomly and all year round

tell your friend's dad to do fireworks and someone start writing an anthem

literally just got a text informing me that brew day is this coming saturday

imma track down some pics, the brewing apparatus is nuts. he actually runs tubing from the garage into the basement to fill the buckets. there are like thirty rocket kegs down there

this man is an ICU doc btw, so this is serious business

that is so fucking cool. brewing scratches all of my weird never get to do it itches wrt closet chemistry geekery, and creates a situation where me + a couple peeps basically have to hang out and yammer at each other for 4 hours w/o the distraction of bar/party/show/whatever. plus it makes alcohol that i can put in my brain. its such an ultra satisfying thing to me.

i should start a homebrewing thread. maybe there is one.

I've got a kit that was bequeathed to me, and never used. Hmmm

we currently have an old english ipa and a bitter in the fermenters. the ipa is measuring at 9.6% potential alcohol. it has (this is literal, not figurative btw) A POUND of hops in it for a 4.5 gallon batch. even the furious clone we did only had 4 oz of hops. i fully expect it to hurt to drink it and am soooooo excited to find out.
