This Boy is Exhausted. I rashly voted Happy, but it has that weak climax.

This Boy is Exhausted.

According to their twitter, they're mastering about 100-some odd mins of new material for a possible double album this year. (Or, you know, whenever.)

posting complete lyrics is weird but my god do i love these lyrics

Ten tons against me and you've gone
I put your favorite records on
And sit around
It spins around
And you're around again

Struck dumb while drugs run at how high reeds
Cue every memory at half-speeds
Just like.. Charles, hold-me-downs
I'm coming sounds
Cut crap, who's filling shoes like these anymore?

Past clumsy crushes beneath Thrill Pier
Hopes pinned to poses honed in men's room mirrors
A sophomore at Brown
She worked lost & found
I put your face on her all year

From five rows of photos when you wrote
Of posed you, dressed blue, in a backyard boat
And at the bottom with this quote:
(#4 North Shore) a Cape May address
[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/she-send-kisses-lyrics-wrens.html ]
Your new one I guess
'All's well in hell and here's hoping'

She sends kisses
Some signed 'with Love, Beth O's and X's
She sends kisses
Same old Beth
Some signed 6's
Our shore town knockdown sure was fun
yeah, white trash, what have you
I fired replies back gun by gun
past Seven Wrecks I read your four answers: 1. your move 2. I'm tres involved 3. move on 4. love, Beth
I walk it down
this tourist town
'just thought I'd' calls
just friends
she sends kisses
and all at once back doors blow open
she sends.... in envelopes stamped with 'Hope & Hearts' - ripped right open
she sends...
but I'm corrupt - I wrote back good luck

That's a Charles Bissell lyric; they tend to be head and shoulders above the others.

so i have started to listen to this album again, it is so heavy that i don't think i can make the whole album in one sitting...

Bee OK, Saturday, 14 April 2012 02:18 (twelve years ago) link

so i see another bigger music board has bumped their Wrens thread because of this thread, lol.

Bee OK, Saturday, 14 April 2012 03:45 (twelve years ago) link

What music board is bigger than this one?

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 14 April 2012 04:28 (twelve years ago) link

it's not bigger but not going to name it either, just thought it was funny.

"Happy" is FOR ALL TIME, but this record tended to lose me after "This Boy Is Exhausted" and I don't even remember how any of those songs go now.

haha i would usually skip the first few tracks and start w/ "this boy.."

prob "everyone chooses sides" or "ex-girl collection", but a couple of those bashers like "per second second" and "faster gun" deserves some love

Another for Ex Girl Collection.

One of the sweetest live bands I've seen.

three years pass...

put this on for the first time in 10 years. i skip the downtempo/ballads. but "happy" and "hopeless" are on repeat.

6 god none the richer (m bison), Tuesday, 12 April 2016 02:34 (eight years ago) link

Skipping the ballads is madness, "Thirteen Grand" and "13 Months In 6 Minutes" are key

I was sad to hear about Charles Bissell's health issues.

one year passes...

it's just such a weird album for me to love. it just doesn't feel like me. but i do love it. i can't even think of another record like it that i really like. listening to it now. thus, reflection.

"Hopeless" is everything I could want from a song

Happy 20 to this classic.

It's a minor miracle when an album and myself age together perfectly in sync, but this one did it.

a perfect album
