I've wanted to be George Clooney even before I found out he was Ally's future husband. Apparently he really hates David O. Russell though, has sworn he'll never work with him again, etc., but Marky Mark's in Russell's next one so who knows. Still every interview I've read with the guy I've come away thinking 'whatta asshole'. That Jamie Kennedy show is much better than it has any right to be, though sitting through another "Malibu's Most Wanted" trailer I will shoot myself. I was dragged to that Steve Martin-Queen Latifah movie a couple of weeks ago and beforehand they showed the trailers for "Head of State" and "Malibu's Most Wanted" - it was 'Night of the Caucasion Fa-Shizzles'.

I caught the Jamie Kenndy Xperience a few times really stoned and totally loved it. I saw it sober a few weeks ago and still found it funny, which is way too rare for a sketch comedy show (I don't think I can watch Mr. Show sober ever again -- I tried last night and it was ugly).

George Clooney = totally rad. Did you know he tried out for the Reds at one point? He talked about it with (ugh) Bob Costas in a HBO Real Sports interview last year.

I get the feeling that David O Russell would be hard to work with (he's an "auteur" and all that that entails). Spanking the Monkey was terrible, though Flirting With Disaster had its moments. (he did those, right?)

One time, this dude from my company was at my gym, he plays basketball there, and they were having a pickup game. So this other guy keeps screaming at him that he's a ball hog, etc. Which is totally true. "Pass the ball fucker! Pass the ball!" that sort of thing, and my coworker is like all pissed off at him and fighting with him. The other guy? George Clooney.

i don't know if the movie "condemns War" as such, but it certainly is skeptical toward the US's first war on iraq. although it could potentially be construed as a polemic in favor of having taken the war all the way to baghdad.

three years pass...

it's kind of a trip to realize what a gamble it was to cast Spike in this ($42M then, now $65M) budget film, you have to remember this was pre-Malkovich & pre-Jackass. At the time he was known mainly for directing skateboarding videos (esp. Video Days, one of the best skate videos ever) & music videos ("100%", "Cannonball", "Buddy Holly", "Sabotage", "Da Funk", etc.)

But here he was doing a legitimate stretch acting role in his Hollywood debut, and I'm pretty sure he did his own stunt when his car gets blown up.

There were probably lots of gen x cusps who didn't realize it was Spike in the "Praise You" video or who didn't really care either way. But by that point in history I figured he was kind of a counter culture celebrity.
