Morbs sort of makes a valid point, but I'd argue they're expertly deployed shitty tech qualities.

Not trolling. And yeah, I used cinematography rather than 'technical qualities' because I think that's a strong point with a lot of horror (but by no means all - I guess I was suggesting that the pinnacle of horror cinematography is far far superior to the pinnacle of comedy cinematography). But I adore low rent lo-fi tech stuff just as much. Hence why in my next post I am going to nominate Herschell Gordon Lewis' The Wizard of Gore.

Not sure if people will allow Teshigahara's adaptation of Abe's Woman in the Dunes?

I saw a "live" performance of Carnival of Souls where they had musicians, voice actors and a foley artist on stage below the projection, replacing all the sound. A vast improvement tbh!
