yeah, "I Want You To Want Me" is their only charting song over here. Never heard Surrender till last year, unimpressed tbh.

I saw them at a UK ATP about 10 years ago, they played to a crowd of about 200 tops. Despite this, they were excellent.

I think it was the ilm '70s poll that introduced me to Cheap Trick and iirc a lot of the non-Americans didn't know who they were then either

Think I prob first heard "Surrender" in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I think the first time I heard Surrender was in Over the Edge

and I am an American who would totally go see the Fall instead of Cheap Trick

but Surrender still owns

I really did not get The Fall until one day in 2011 I suddenly loved them. It was weird.

GOAT = greatest of all time

More people at ATP would rather go see The Fall than Cheap Trick - most people in the UK have never heard of either - which in Cheap Trick's case is possibly the real UK/US divide.

Wow, this rush of Cheap Trick love is roughly analogous to the time Richard Harris album sales spiked in the wake of Weird Al dropping "Jurassic Park".

Speaking as an Amurrican, I probably like the Fall more than Cheap Trick, who did have a handful of unassailable songs (everyone forgets the UBER classics like "Southern Girls" and "Elo Kiddies").

I love the Fall, have seen them live half a dozen times, but couldn't turn down the opportunity to see Cheap Trick. Anyway I'm taking this to ILM to prevent further derailment.
