Re: Duff Disco, be sure to also listen to Grand Master Duff, which I *ahem* posted here last summer. Since that youtube link evidently doesn't work anymore, might as well post it again:

Have 6th Borough/The Revenge produced anything of note in the past year or so? I didn't find anything too impressive on the Soundcloud page.
― viborg, Friday, 30 March 2012 14:50 (twelve years ago) link
Well, both of them released full lengths. Sadly those haven't been especially remarkable.
― EDB, Friday, 30 March 2012 15:44 (twelve years ago) link
U Crazy - both albums were awesome!! Reekin'Structions was completely fantastic....
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Friday, 30 March 2012 23:27 (twelve years ago) link
i would say mark e's works vol 1 & 2 absolutely slaughter the revenge and 6th borough's efforts, and that neither album lives up to their earlier singles
anyway i was more into "one night in the borough" but in the end i thought it was forgettable except for "belvide beat"
― the late great, Friday, 30 March 2012 23:44 (twelve years ago) link
Which was on Stone Breaker?
― du mein bestie (micarl), Saturday, 31 March 2012 00:32 (twelve years ago) link
oh snap, "belvide beat" was on stone breaker (mark e) not the sixth borough project album
i guess they were both forgettable
― the late great, Saturday, 31 March 2012 01:13 (twelve years ago) link
LOL - Stone Breaker was totally forgettable to me, but I'm still listening to/playing out Reekin'Structions and a few of the tracks off One Night... are still in my record bag, esp The Fool.
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 31 March 2012 20:22 (twelve years ago) link
I'm the exact opposite - loved Stone Breaker but didn't think as much of the other two? That said I've always preferred Mark E to the rest of this scene so I was probably actively wanting to enjoy it more.
― boxedjoy, Saturday, 31 March 2012 20:24 (twelve years ago) link
Also it seems to me that this whole scene has slowed down considerably since last year - used to seem like one/two new killer releases every week and now....maybe one/two per month!
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 31 March 2012 21:28 (twelve years ago) link
Plus Duff Disco's announcement that he's stopping pressing his boots on vinyl was a big bummer/blow for me personally...
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 31 March 2012 21:29 (twelve years ago) link
slowing down is just part of the scene, man

I like track 4 but before that it just sounded like hotel lounge wallpaper to me

I was planning to ask if anyone has seen Mark E live recently 'cos I'm thinking about going to a set but this is the best answer I could get to that
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:58 (twelve years ago) link
oh snap!
currently playing: Omar S and Ob Ignitt - Wayne County Hill Cop's
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:06 (twelve years ago) link

boiler room sets end up "appearing" later on though don't they?
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:13 (twelve years ago) link
they usually post soundcloud / download links?
― the late great, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:15 (twelve years ago) link
not sure if it's slo mo but it's definitely slow compared to most house tracks AND its got that crucial disco strut
and it's the last-song-of-the-night laser-guided 10000 lb bomb

was working on a "rough guide to slow motion house" thing for a friend that doesn't know the sound
here's what i got on it so far:
fudge fingas, 6th borough project, the revenge, OOFT, mindless boogie (the edit dudes), a rick wilhite marvin gaye edit thingy, popular people front, theo parrish and ugly edits, mark e, some ashley beedle disco edits, black science orchestra
what am i missing?
― the late great, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:23 (twelve years ago) link
tiger & woods?
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:25 (twelve years ago) link
eddie c?
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:26 (twelve years ago) link
dead rose music company?
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:34 (twelve years ago) link
linkwood?
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:36 (twelve years ago) link
also I would like to hear this rough guide
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 22:37 (twelve years ago) link
ah yes, linkwood! but what track? miles away? hear the sun? nectarine? who la la? piece of mind?
i think maybe one of the first two. or their tornado wallace remix.
i'm not actually that familiar w/ tiger & woods or eddie c. never heard of dead rose. what are their "smash hits"?
― the late great, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 23:04 (twelve years ago) link
Dead Rose Music Company - Never Gonna Stop
ESSENTIAL
― Tim F, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 23:09 (twelve years ago) link
my favorites by eddie c would be 'deepa' and 'space cadet'. not sure what his most popular track is though, maybe 'do it yourself'.
another essential dead rose music company track: 'bad desire'
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 10 April 2012 23:20 (twelve years ago) link
Tiger & Woods "Gin Nation" was pretty huge and got a bit of press did it not? "Kissmetellme" and "El Dickital" were my other favourites from the LP but their early EPs had some good stuff, one track I loved based around an Evelyn King sample called "Come Down."
Anything off the Eddie C album is recommended, although the first half is better, far drowsier and oneiric. I'd also recommend some Francis Inferno Orchestra, probably "I Need It" is his best, and Duff Disco, especially the slightly obvious but still-fun "Return Of The Duff."
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 23:24 (twelve years ago) link
It wasn't a huge anthem or anything but by perhaps my favourite slo-mo house tune of last year (or equal favourite with "Never Gonna Stop") was Matthew Kyle's "Off My Mind".
― Tim F, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 23:32 (twelve years ago) link
Gin Nation almost seems to be pushing the BPMs up a bit for this thread but it is a good track
this one is too but I can't stop playing it, so great

Suzanne Kraft - Turning
I'm kinda blurring the line between slo-mo and just regular disco edits now I guess
― dmr, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 00:38 (twelve years ago) link
Gin Nation is only like 106 bpm
I consider anything around 116 and under game here, though two tracks at the same tempo can feel like vastly different speeds.
some stuff is maybe TOO SLOW to fit in, under 100 or so, like...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXrl1CU-bnA
― I DIED, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 03:08 (twelve years ago) link
yeah I guess Gin Nation is one that feels a little faster than it really is ... ! I must have it confused with something else
― dmr, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 18:46 (twelve years ago) link
not to turn this into a "guess the identity" thread but is it known who Tiger & Woods is? they do live dates and stuff right? just because of the name thing I wondered if it was Rub & Tug related, I dunno.
― dmr, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 18:49 (twelve years ago) link
I think they're London based, at least from the UK. But I'm not really basing this on much, or anything, actually.
― EDB, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link
dmr theyre here next week!
― max, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:02 (twelve years ago) link
oh for real? so they are: http://www.popgunbooking.com/event/98979/
my parents are gonna be in town that day, dang
but anyway what I kinda meant was -- assuming they don't play in masks -- that if they do live dates they are not some easily recognizable DJ under another name
― dmr, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:20 (twelve years ago) link
I'm seeing them next Friday, will let people know if they're Tiesto and Armin van Buuren in disguise
― I DIED, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:23 (twelve years ago) link
Larry Tiger is actually Deadmau5 without the mouse head, not wearing it is like a disguise for him
― dmr, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:28 (twelve years ago) link
probably only like a 15% chance it's actually one guy, and the guy is Tiger Woods
