found out the hard way that you must TOUCH and not wave or swipe

rfid tech bought from the soviets qf

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:41 (twelve years ago) link

i don't have a problem with the touch part, but the 2-3 seconds it takes to respond

mystery shjopper (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:45 (twelve years ago) link

The "far queue" joke was genius, I did lol.

zooey bechamel (Trayce), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:57 (twelve years ago) link

But the "touch dont swipe" ting has been a known for a long long time. That said, even then it fails a LOT (ive seen it), and takes a full 1-5 seconds to register. Unlikje a metcard which just goes in and comes out within a second. There are ppl on the comments on that article claiming the opposite - that a myki is a 1 sec reaction and metcards take 5-10 seconds (lol wtf is he on).

zooey bechamel (Trayce), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:58 (twelve years ago) link

that's what i mean, you touch and move it slightly (because hello the vehicle is in motion) and it spends 5 sec telling you that the read failed

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:02 (twelve years ago) link

btw myki fanboys exist, i've been hassled by them

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:03 (twelve years ago) link

myki fanboys

fanboys of myki

i ask you

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:03 (twelve years ago) link

Oh your talking about on trams, thats a bit different

I'm talking about at station gatez

zooey bechamel (Trayce), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:04 (twelve years ago) link

on that, metcard-embedded myki readers are faster than standalone myki readers ime

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:07 (twelve years ago) link

Ive heard the opposite? Haha.

But overall, I'm wary noot of the readers per se (theyre shite), but th3e fact that these readers *working* are what bills us correctly. s'not like metcard where you scan once and you know yr done (*and if not, woo free trip). If these things wont touch off, say hello to a full day full fare, and good luck trying to get a refund (3 working days).

Also if you dont use yr card for 3 months, they SUSPEND it. And if you fuck something up and it blocks the card, you have to MAIL IT TO THEM to get it fixed. MAIL IT TO THEM.

''I'm good mates with Barack Obama,'' Ms Gillard was quoted as saying.

''I tell him, 'you think it's tough being African-American? Try being me. Try being an atheist, childless, single woman as prime minister'.''

I came to post that about an hour ago, and decided against it, as I just ... I dont know.

You know the most depressing thing? While the comments are across the board "yer useless Joolia and thats not even why", pretty much NO ONE is horrified about the fact she said "you think its tough being African-American". I mean... words fail me.

I'm sure it was said in jest in private, if it was said at all, but ffs whats the matter with her?

fix it with like some music glue (Trayce), Monday, 2 April 2012 01:23 (twelve years ago) link

fuck idk

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 2 April 2012 01:24 (twelve years ago) link

TURPS-DEFCON1.jpg (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 2 April 2012 01:24 (twelve years ago) link

also I considered dropping it in 'is this racist' but it would just be dragged into trayvon territory in like 14 seconds

ehh, she says it was a gag btwn them, if he's offended that's his business but he probably wasn't, it's slightly sad for her to trot it out for a private audience but massively declasse of Farfax to report it, three degrees removed from any context.

classical music grants scandal

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 06:44 (twelve years ago) link

merrick & toro rosso (haitch), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 23:26 (twelve years ago) link

classical music grants are the scandal really - if the rich want background music to network to, maybe they should pay market rate. everyone else has to.

merrick & toro rosso (haitch), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 23:27 (twelve years ago) link

imagine how many CL records coulda been produced for that tidy sum!!

merrick & toro rosso (haitch), Thursday, 5 April 2012 04:34 (twelve years ago) link

based on what the other two "cost", tens of thousands tbh

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Thursday, 5 April 2012 04:42 (twelve years ago) link

A spokesman for Crean told Crikey Melba’s application for funding would be considered “as just one of 450” competing requests for arts funding, and that Melba would have to take its chances alongside all the rest.

Rightly fuckin so, too!
