Powerpuff Girls was pretty cool

Isn't this MLP show one with a scriptwriter who worked on tha tshow?

I remember being all "wait, really????" about Powerpuff Girls when I happened to flip onto an episode that featured HIM as the villain

I am also now picturing FBS stepbro as the guy in Heavy Metal Parking Lot who says something along the lines of "This is my girlfriend, she's thirteeeen."

Don't know if it's changed tack since it was on in the early 00's but I didn't know Powerpuff Girls was considered the same as MLP... Always saw it in the same league as Dexter's Lab, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob etc i.e. Stuff that's actually pretty funny/appeals to grown ups on a regular level as well as kids. Some of the characters: Mojojojo, HIM, the Professor etc are pure comedy.

Powerpuff Girls was only a set number of seasons! And yes, it was clever and had funny jokes for all

mh, Thursday, 22 March 2012 15:48 (twelve years ago) link

The MLP reboot is along similar lines. It's fairly amusing.

yes. that's mostly why so many dudes are in to it this time around. this isnt the "gi joe for girls" we grew up with,

i watched a few episodes last weekend as part of my ~research~ and i stopped liking new cartoons after ren & stimpy, but its pretty great! its nothing like the "gi joe for girls" MLP we grew up with-- its funny and clever and the art is cool.

when i was conducting my interviews, one of the main things that came up w/ these dudes is that they legit feel like they've never come across a show before that deals with friendship and how to be a friend so effectively (!!!)

Grady that was pretty classic! "I tracked a group last week..", "lots of flesh on the beach.." among my favorite lines. But I didn't make it through the kids' interviews.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 26 March 2012 23:31 (twelve years ago) link

I finished listening to this but you should of asked the bronies if they actually like /b/ because /b/ has so much hardcore, racist and gorey shit and I just don't picture bronies enjoying that kind of stuff.

and if they do enjoy 4chan than I have an entirely new perspective on what a brony is.

"hardcore, racist and gorey shit and I just don't picture bronies enjoying that kind of stuff."

common thread is responsibility-free infantilism?

maybe more libertarian-y? but i feel like the regressive nostalgia reads more republican.

I was enraged for some reason when I saw little pony toys sitting alone at some family run pizza shop I went to a little while ago and felt much better when a little girl ran up to collect the toys she forgot

I mean it didn't have to be a girl but it made me feel like the world was still a world when a little kid ran up excitedly to collect toys is all I'm saying

― ♆ (gr8080),

I don't think you understand. /b/ revels in its racism, gore, pictures of mutilated kittens and penises etc. It's not like half the internet. It's clearly leaning towards ultra-sicko territory and not just a halfway house for bi-curious-sickos. Sure the internet is awful, but admitting to being a /b/tard is admitting that your closest home on the web is one of the darkest abscesses of filth and likewise your mentality has got to be pretty stuffed up with shit as well.

I can imagine bronies as people that appreciate anonymous for supposedly starting or at the very least encouraging /b/rony love. But then it goes either one of two ways. 1) Bronies feel like home in a place where people try to outscum eachother or 2) they don't know /b/ or only know it in passing. Frankly I would like to know whether bronies are genuine /b/tards or not. Maybe some of these brony kids are secret sickos - well much more sick than your average joe.

we gotta move these refrigerators (CaptainLorax), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 02:43 (twelve years ago) link

like that quiet kid in class that acts sort of normal but is secretly dreaming of a million different ways to murder his classmates because those thoughts are soothing to his sicko side

we gotta move these refrigerators (CaptainLorax), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 02:49 (twelve years ago) link

You sound...curiously knowledgeable about all this.

Did you drop some flug in my cup? (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 02:50 (twelve years ago) link

i hear bronies accept the government's version of 9/11 events!

"I was enraged for some reason when I saw little pony toys sitting alone at some family run pizza shop I went to a little while ago and felt much better when a little girl ran up to collect the toys she forgot"

don't all the toy story movies operate on this emotional dynamic?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 03:04 (twelve years ago) link

Lorax you're allright in my book.

♆ (gr8080), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 03:06 (twelve years ago) link

fwiw, my brony cousin strongly dislikes Family Guy so I don't think he would be into /b/
