Shit, I only knew the Cranberries' radio singles. I guess that's just as well - compared to the above, "Zombie" now seems like a paragon of restraint.

i kind of love "zombie", the guitars, the blissed-out drift, dolores' vocals, the soaring chorus. the words are absolutely hideous, should be unforgivable, but i don't care much about them for some reason. i find it easy enough to tune the verses out and enjoy singing along w the wonderfully ridiculous chorus.

"what would you say", otoh, is completely boring and awful. no riveting chorus, no ocean guitars, just bad unfunky funk.

Zombie is inexcusable but my god "What Would You Say" is so atrocious and such a relic of an awful time for commercial rock/radio music it's mesmerizing. A masterpiece of horribleness.

I LOVE Zombie now because it is fun to shout "With their TANKS and their BOMBS and their BOMBS and their GOOONS".

I agree but sing it as "with their guns & their bombs & their bombs & their bombs & their bombs & their bombs" until I get tired, which is usually a long time

The list of '90s hits that I hated then and still hate now is disturbingly short.

I'd probably bop along happily to an instrumental version of that DMB song, which I hadn't heard til today

like every other DMB song, if this song just happened to start playing i'd ignore it and go about my business. if i'm the wrong mood or having a bad day, though, overhearing "zombie" will definitely make my mood even worse. so "zombie."

I actually like Zombie alright, catchy chorus. Reminds me of Siouxsie.

I don't know what the lyrics are, or what the verse sounds like though.

It's good to know people are still thinking about how DMB is awful. Never surrender.

there are DMB songs i'm okay with. this isn't one of them.

DMB sounds best with the bass turned all the way down and the treble up a bit; really brings out those snare pops and twanngggg guitar

Both of these songs are unquestionably terrible...but I still love them? I kinda listen to Alternative Nation anthems a lot. They overrun my critical faculties with their tanks & their bombs & their bombs & their guns. '90s teenagerdom was a blessing and a curse.

I loved both of these songs when I was a kid. I grew way way WAY out of DMB, and now I only 'like' Zombie.

cranberries just put a new album out last month, according to spotify. i haven't listened to it yet but i'm curious to see where dolores is at lyric-wise these days.

amazing poll... honestly I couldnt choose. Dave-bro is lamebro but that is one of his least horrible songs IMO, compared to another song that sucks in a totally different way and IIRC doesnt sound like any other cranberries song, obviously only issued as a single because it has loud guitars and the same chords as "Violet" and "Disarm."

even it's 'loudness' is polite though. but it did fool the populace well enough. I remember a lot of people who would sit in the Blockbuster Music (lol music stores w/ listening booths) listening to the album and then ask the salesmen "Are there any cd-singles with just Zombie", dismayed at the quiet 'other' songs even though ostensibly they were the same types of songs on the surface.

Yeah, I feel like some people were voting for DMB vs. Cranberries rather than the songs themselves. Should've been 'Zombie' in a walk.
