People do that, they talk about what is right for people to do and speak in platitudes and there's absolutely no connection to the way anyone lives outside of some real "moral" crazies. The kind of crazy branch of my dad's side of the family who was churchy is kind of obviously this way. They're all hucksters or constantly broke and talking about how "the lord will provide" or having kids at the least opportune times.

Like, yes there is a consensus that contraception exists, that everyone uses it, and that dogma doesn't really matter to most people - but introducing this issue as one of the public facilitating "sluttiness" subsequently allows all these less, shall we say, charitable concerns to come out.
