i did some serious cleaning this weekend and expected to finish re-arranging my apartment but instead i've gone back to throwing laundry all over the place and letting dirty dishes pile up while i have things like dismantled bookcases and piles of cds and armchairs sitting in the middle of rooms.

i'm always afraid that they will shrink my clothes, but it's probably cheaper than buying new socks!

bell labs (bell_labs), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 18:38 (seventeen years ago) link

i always just tell them to use low/mid dry

but yeah inevitably they'll mess it up sooner or later

trans pacific donkey cell phone (sleep), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 18:42 (seventeen years ago) link

I only give them sheets, towels, and gym clothes. Everything that might be hurt by drying, I do myself -- but at least there's less waiting and folding overall.

the only thing they've ever shrunk was a sweater i didn't realize i'd given them (wool) that was dryer-ed.

fell asleep fully clothed on my couch last night, but somehow that doesn't seem all that bad anymore.

I GOT NEW SOAP

http://www.juniperridge.com/pbpn_sp_pinon.htm

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 13 April 2007 22:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Also called “Ginger Cedar” for its highly unusual, spicy odor, Port Orford cedar is found only in the tangled knot of coastal mountains in northern California and southern Oregon known as the Klamath-Siskiyou region. Its soothing odor is extremely evocative and was said to have strongly affected 19th century seamen who sailed schooners made from the fresh wood - “the odor grew and grew on them till they were almost mad with it” (Donald Peattie). I hope it doesn’t drive you mad! While many soaps claim to be “cedar” scented, this soap is the only one you will find with the distinct smell of Port Orford Cedar and the distinct feeling of the gorgeous, rugged country of the Klamath region in which it grows.

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 13 April 2007 22:24 (seventeen years ago) link

California’s Sierra is perhaps the most widely loved and jealously guarded mountain range in North America. Its deep heart of wilderness has has been the fuel of inspiration for generations of wilderness activists including such greats as John Muir and David Brower. This soap smells like the Sierra because it is made from the spicy smelling leaves of Incense Cedar, which blanket its western flanks. This is the real smell of warm summer evenings in the meadows along the Tuolumne river, or of stumbling out of your sleeping bag in the middle of the night, with the impossibly cold, wood-smoke Sierra air lighting up your senses.

three months pass...

Man, one time outside the co-op across from my house, I found this 8-pack of designer canned soups. Turducken, quail,, all kinds of great stuff! I didn't have any food at the time (which was why I was looking outside the co-op: food was left in the parking lt & by the dumpster a lot), so I was K-EXCITED. But when I got home & saw them in the light I discovered they were designer dog foods.

I have no security deposit on my current place, does that mean I get to not clean it? dear landlord, sorry about the mildew in the bathroom and kitchen floor stickiness that never seems to go away

mh, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

before i moved to ldn, i figured out that my building's mgmt company had about 4 months worth of rent in various bullshit deposits and fees. cleaning, moving stuff out save for what i wanted to take with me, and paying the last month's rent quickly fell by the wayside.
