i bought a rockers hi-fi album because of this. was disappointing.

It's funny how ten years ago this sounded dated to me in the worst way and now it sounds dated to me in the best way

I kind of regret selling my OG vinyl copy since the repress has a bunch of different songs, but I did get $300 for it and a couple of the tracks had scratches that caused skipping. The K&D DJ Kicks is one of my favorite artifacts from the 90s though.

I have always found this sounded funny. Haven't listened in ages to it. There was an air of coolness around them which i could never take seriously.

The original "Trans Fatty Acid" isn't anywhere near as good as the remix (which would be my other choice I think) - the one time Lamb (in their early career) slipped into trip hop by numbers.

Does this sound like opposite world to anyone else? Lamb's original is more akin to the claustrophobic paranoia of Tricky's "Strugglin'" than, say, something off of Dummy (which would be the likelier trip hop template from the time).

any time I hear more than a couple Depeche Mode remixes on shuffle I remember the one on this mix and end up listening to the full k&d sessions

the depeche mode mix is boring imo. could just be that i don't like depeche mode.

this still hits some serene highs but parts are also kinda beige. i remember feeling the same way when i first bought it.

I remember buying this album at the time (1997?) and really looking forward to it, but for some reason I just couldn't get into it at all.

might want to find 'bug powder dust' online somewhere and roll up your sleeves for that lyrical treat

tbh i think there's something about the rolling filters they use on everything that i don't like - too 'smooth', not enough crunch.

are any Tosca and/or Peace Orchestra records worth hearing?

I was quite fond of Opera, Suzuki and Suzuki in Dub at the time; no idea whether they'd hold up today. I don't think I've heard any Peace Orchestra.

there's a lot of great stuff to be found on the first 3 Tosca albums. go with Suzuki first, maybe. Fuck Dub is just straight undeniable classic imo (the 12 not the rec w/ the mixes. nevermind, that too)
