new amy linton song--

http://soundcloud.com/av-linton/big-ocean

banjos. it has been alleged that she is making an aislers set album on her own again.

the new megaphonic thrift album on club ac30 is a thing of shoegaze beauty

Delia Derbyshire's Complete Moog Cookery Course (electricsound), Monday, 19 March 2012 02:14 (seven years ago) link

marty donald demo-

http://soundcloud.com/lost-and-lonesome/last-leaves-the-nights-you

sounds a lot like the lucksmiths obviously. new band 'last leaves' with 3 of the 4 lucksmiths and a new drummer.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:50 (seven years ago) link

do you actually like it?

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:52 (seven years ago) link

(not a trick q)

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:52 (seven years ago) link

yeah. is that the wrong answer?:) i like everything marty though. besides, it's a demo, i am sure when they finish it it will be free jazz skronk and beats.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 01:00 (seven years ago) link

ha no not wrong, but yeah it's probably my least favourite song of his thus far. will be v interested to see how it goes with the full band treatment. choosing to sing his own songs was an interesting idea

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 01:11 (seven years ago) link

feeling this and playing it a lot lately:

dude's voice is a dealbreaker imo

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:20 (seven years ago) link

dude's stupid face is a dealbreaker imo. i should have listened to it with the browser minimised.

trimdon orange explosion (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:23 (seven years ago) link

i have been trying to figure out who he sounds like and it finally it me, it's Jónsi from Sigur Rós.

good luck Peeta Mellark (Bee OK), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:23 (seven years ago) link

it hit

good luck Peeta Mellark (Bee OK), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:24 (seven years ago) link

That's not it. He sounds more like a sleepy Antony Hegarty.

i should have listened to it with the browser minimised.

I did that.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:27 (seven years ago) link

Sounds like Kermit.

Evan, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 04:21 (seven years ago) link

the new Lotus Plaza record (Deerhunter) sounds pretty good to me, esp. considering the fact that im not a Deerhunter fan

this Megaphonic Thrift album is better at Imperial Teen than the new Imperial Teen album.

skip, Thursday, 22 March 2012 01:31 (seven years ago) link

new single by The School not bad, a bit less of a drag than the non-single tracks on their album. but the opening track is lifting part of the melody of something else and i'm struggling to put my finger on it

and she really needs to lose the fucking autotune

dieter bummer (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:07 (seven years ago) link

music sounds like tramway, it's ok.

keythhtyek, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:10 (seven years ago) link

i like "give you the ghost" by polica a lot

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 29 March 2012 09:25 (seven years ago) link

the newest klaus & kinski record is really very nice. seems as if they don't get much credit for being kinda great. they churn out the records too.

keythhtyek, Friday, 30 March 2012 03:20 (seven years ago) link

listening to the compilation the rainyards put up on bandcamp. fantastic. in spite of having a friend that was obsessed with summershine once upon a time I was completely unaware of their goodness.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:12 (seven years ago) link

it is a thing of absolute beauty.

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:21 (seven years ago) link

it is. it reminds of rick menck/paul chastain but better than that. papa topo's mini-lp is lovely as well, it is like the school record I was hoping for, in spanish of course.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:49 (seven years ago) link

ha. i really disliked oso panda but the follow up single was good, so i'm interested

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:54 (seven years ago) link

when they buried oso panda in their next video it was cute. apparently they are like 19. they sound almost cosmopolitan now compared to oso panda. the milkyway influence.

'motoring' by toy is the best track of the year so far for me

scumulator (electricsound), Monday, 9 April 2012 22:45 (seven years ago) link

surprised more people haven't tried to emulate the newish Sonic Youth albums - great template for a young band.

skip, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:35 (seven years ago) link

'sleepyhead' off the new strawberry whiplash album is a cute little MBV rip

scumulator (electricsound), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 01:27 (seven years ago) link

Novella EP on italian beach babes like a better Slumber Party. lovely.

real 69 for my sham friends (electricsound), Thursday, 12 April 2012 05:26 (seven years ago) link

might not be the right thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hv7YuIzhOs

Bee OK, Thursday, 12 April 2012 06:22 (seven years ago) link

Love the newer Novella stuff. Pretty good live too. Although 'Don't Believe Ayn Rand' has a chorus that I can't help but mishear as 'cheese, sausage roll' (it's 'she's lost control).

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Sunday, 15 April 2012 12:43 (seven years ago) link

that toy track is pretty good but gosh they are an awkward looking bunch. straight out of my junior high school talent show. be better without the intro.

keythhtyek, Sunday, 15 April 2012 22:56 (seven years ago) link

heard a new Allo Darlin' track on the radio yesterday. Sounded pretty good. Anyone heard the album?

stay in school if you want to kiw (Gukbe), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 20:39 (seven years ago) link

Pitchfork gushed over it. Usually their acceptable definition of indiepop is something turgid like summer hymns so that review is a surprise.

keythhtyek, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 00:43 (seven years ago) link

i disliked the opening single (though liked the b-side) and slumberland/fortuna pop have yet again conspired to ensure i can't get it off emusic so i don't think i'll be hearing it in a hurry

real 69 for my sham friends (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 00:55 (seven years ago) link

i love them. i am sure i will love the album when i hear it.

keythhtyek, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 02:38 (seven years ago) link

going to go see them live in a week or so!

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 03:29 (seven years ago) link

listening now, more substantial production, still utterly charming, smart and terrific. my one tax refund splurge.

keythhtyek, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 04:00 (seven years ago) link

ah i just worked out that school song 'never thought i'd see the day' rips the melody from 'let your freak flag fly' by the hummingbirds

ringo deathstarr pledge drive

62% of their goal in under 2 days. these guys have some pretty serious fans.

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 02:05 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, I wonder why...

emil.y, Friday, 20 April 2012 02:08 (seven years ago) link

i pledged, but only for the demo package. the 'make us cover a song of your choice' option went in like 15 minutes

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 02:11 (seven years ago) link

i would have made them do i kill everything i fuck fwiw

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 02:12 (seven years ago) link

Ha, good choice. Though I doubt the ilxor's cover of that could ever be bettered.

I'd have made them cover 'I'm a Terrible Vacuous Imbecile Who Uses My Body to Sell My Mediocre Records'. I'd have to write it first, obviously.

emil.y, Friday, 20 April 2012 02:24 (seven years ago) link

of this story i am thankfully unaware. dandy warhols related?

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 02:25 (seven years ago) link

ok now i know. seems.... pointless.

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 02:31 (seven years ago) link

Weird Dreams "Choreography" album is a total joy, tasty indiepop goodness

beer in heaven (electricsound), Friday, 20 April 2012 06:40 (seven years ago) link

i wonder if elizabeth darlin' has been listening to the hummingbirds a lot for this latest record
