as far as people who purposely give their albums funny titles, david holmes has a few gems – lets get killed and this film's crap lets slash the seats.

Phil Collins called his greatest hits album "HITS". There used to be a big billboard on the approach to Blackfriars train station advertising it, with a picture of Phil and the word HITS written in very big letters.

Can you guess how that was subtly altered by some people with spraycans?

Blink-182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket

(Say it out loud, but make sure you're braced for the hearty laughter to follow.)

I seem to remember that the Super Furry Animals considered using the name of their song 'The Very Best Of Neil Diamond' as the album title (for what became Dark Days/Light Years). Probably good that they didn't, but it would have been hilarious.

A deliberate joke that I always thought was funny: Paul McCartney has this live album called Paul Is Live.

(xp) bit too much like Throbbing Gristle, "20 Jazz Funk Greats" or Ween's "12 Golden Country Greats" perhaps?

The Mekons' "The quality of mercy is not strnen."

Glad to see that someone mentioned this one early on in the thread (of course it doesn't make sense without the album cover)

I know, I saw the album title back in the day but I never saw the album picture until about 15 years afterwards...

Re: Christine Indigos earlier (14 years earlier) post. It couldn't be Squirrel Bait as they only made two lps in their lifetime. The eponymous debut and the wonderfully titled Skag Heaven. I'm pretty sure (if my memories of ads in old issues of Forced Exposure don't deceive me) that title you mentioned belongs to Bastro. Whom I believe are S.B. related so it's close. For some reason my subconscious keeps saying Gastr del Sol, but I'm gonna go with Bastro.

There was a folk singer named something like "George Gerdes." Anyway, his first album was called "Obituary." His second album was "Son of Obituary."
