Vic, having lived through that time I can tell you that I bought that Accept album without a second thought! I had heard 'Balls to the Wall' on the radio (believe or not, in the mid-eighties you could hear heavy metal by the likes of Accept on the radio in the US!). I certainly had no clue as to Udo's predilections ... but good on 'im!

I was just going to post the album cover, but the whole promo poster is really just that much more worthy...

It's not so much the artists clothes that make this one bad:

Is that really Thor, or Geir Hongro, tireless Crusader of Melody?

I have a few thoughts:

I remember seeing the Hall and Oats LP in the bins years ago, and I kind of like the cover. You can't tell from the washed out look of the image above, but to me it kind of had a glam, Interview Magazine style look to it. And the original issue's sleeve had a reflective silver paper. How's the music?
I can't stand David Lee Roth, but like that cover. He's intentionally rediculous, anyway.
On the *back* of the Black Sabbath cover you can see Bill Ward's (checkered) underwear through his tights! It must have been airbrushed out on the front. And I think Ozzy's get-up is audacious and fetching.
That Manowar; oh my gosh. This is one record I really can't imagine bringing up to the counter to buy with a straight face. Who could?
I like that "Mechancal Animals" cover, but like even more the inside pic of La Manson done up exactly like Eno in the gatefold of "For Your Pleasure".

i've seen that album cover many time, but it just hit me: are all the dudes in man-o-war really that buff or is that airbrushed?

Super impressed at the image embeds still working from 17 years ago. Those covers are sitting patiently on a server waiting to be invoked.
