had morphine in the hospital when I was 14 with a busted knee. single greatest feeling (drugwise) i ever had. complete bliss.

Oh god yes. I've never done heroin, I stopped liking Percocet and Vicodan and I took a couple morphine pills once and *hated* it, so I figured opiates were no fun.

Then I got a patient-controlled morphine IV while in the hospital for a skull fracture and concussion. The drug going in was one of the most glorious thing I've ever felt. Besides easing the sickening head pain, it felt like I was exhaling for an impossibly long time and a cool, refreshing, glowing feeling radiated from my IV arm, through my chest, and toward my limbs.

I'm really, really glad I never tried heroin b/c if it is anything like IV morphine, I would have to do it more than once.

Tried it a couple of times myself and it never really took. I have strong angry feelings about it due to dead friends and ruined friends and this worthless junkie ex who managed to suck two years of my 20s into a black hole of shit and misery. Plus a couple of times I nearly died/met grievous bodily harm because I was a huge dummy who trusted junkies with my safety.

Great H TV shows - Sopranos and Breaking Bad. I also want to say Sweet and Sour but can't recall any actual drug scene.

Crap H movies: Requiem for a Dream and High Art. Fuck that boring, stylized bullshit.

High art was a bad heroin movie but a good dyke one iirc.

It's fortunate that sticking needles into myself scares me, as it no doubt saved me from becoming a heroin junkie....

Never used heroin (and yes, i know it doesn't have to be injected), but have used all sorts of other opiates/opioids, generally not for recreational purposes though.

I don't quite get the demonisation of heroin, given that morphine is legal and pharmacologically very similar. Heroin was invented by Bayer and was legal for decades as a cough medicine, and even marketed towards children for awhile. (of course in much smaller doses than used to get high).

the only friend i ever had who was a legit heroin junkie who never cleaned up just died of an overdose last month.

at age 12 my mom discovered me still taking my daily dose of codeine the doctor had prescribed me two weeks after i had gotten better and had a minor freakout.
