rly depends. had 1 in highschool that the next day i thought i was going to have to check into a psychiatric facility.

but then the ones i've gotten since then have really been so nice. there are some that are milder, like a zen thing, and i remember playing piano. and then afterward it was totally fine.

worst thing about E was all the people who (to this day) argue about whether the stuff they got in April of 2000 was 'heroin-based or speed-based.' Not cut (which, tbh, I've also never heard of - it wouldn't make sense to cut what was then $5-10 a pill with heroin), based.

ugh used to love this stuff from 19-23 but jesus fucking christ i was such a fucking idiot on it. although the single most magical moment of my life did happen while on e, that is the one fond memory. the rest is just a swampy pit of self-hate, humiliation and absolute regret.

Took e one time on a camping trip, a few years ago. Waited for aaaaaages for it to kick in, fucked for a lot longer than anyone should is about all that happened, didnt feel super different, just buzzier. I went to the bathroom later on & my pupils were so dilated I looked like a rabbit

IIRC I took e so many times back in the day, and it never really did anything. Either I'm weirdly immune or every pill I came across in the early to mid-90s was bunk. Although people always said that e doesn't work if you're already drunk/high so maybe that was the problem? I don't know. I don't really feel like I missed out on anything tbrr.

i hate the taste of alcohol while rolling. also i tried to eat a sugar daddy b/c apparently someone thought that would be a good idea and it was horrible, it made all my teeth hurt and i just like let it slime out of my mouth onto the ground.

Alcohol combination so wrong but so right. I'd rather have it without booze, but I'm always in a club or party, so have almost always been drinking beforehand. Love drinking loads of beer afterwards too, as I'm a complete introvert when on weed.

But yes, by far the best drug.

tried MDMA for the first time this weekend (even though I'm 27, years of loserness followed by years of not really getting around to it), really lovely and curiously profound experience and also the best cup of tea I've ever had on the way home in the morning (thank you grubby café though I suspect if I revisit you I won't be quite as amazed), but now a few days on I'm still feeling a bit of a psychological mess. I guess that'll prevent me from taking it too often.

did make me feel that I should replicate some of its effects legally by finally getting some fucking anxiety medication, though.

damn, it is a small world.

The first time I tried it I came up with a bang and down with a huge bump. I'd had no previous concept of comedowns and thought (for three days) that I'd ruined my life. Don't really do it any more, but you get used to coping with it and it eventually feels more like an intense hangover.

The hangover is surpringly resilient and you need to actually sort of plan the days after you take it. I've found it's best to forego liquor and drink lots of coconut water.

weird - i never really got comedowns from mdma (other, similar thing yes - but never with pure mdma).

What anxiety med replicates MDMA's effects? I'm on Xanax (for an off-label use, not anxiety) but never thought it to be anything like E. Does make a good makeshift sleeping pill though.

ah it wasn't so much the entirety of it, more the "oh hey so this is what it's like to not be socially anxious at all times" aspect. which i imagine was pretty extreme compared to any prescription drugs, but still.

e + weed though is a wonderful combination

i haven't done ecstasy in... 9 years? but out of all the times i took it or injected it (seriously the best way to do it) there were only maybe 2.5 x that i woke up the next NOT completely embarrassed/ashamed. although one of, if not THE, most joyous nights of my life was on ecstasy: fun night which ended with me and 5 of my close friends piled on my bed at dawn, listening to 'earl grey' on repeat.

sometimes i think about doing it once more, not here in the US bc ytth is totally not into that kind of thing, but maybe with friends back home. but i can only think of one friend who would still do it.

i fucking talk too much on e, like an embarrassing amount, and repeat myself a lot. basically, if you don't know me really well, i'm probably the most annoying person to get high with.

i kind of miss this but the truth is there are only so many times it can really give you the innocent high - it feels more cynical each time. even if i don't do it for years and then do one, there's a part of my brain that is still sentient and knows the feeling is artificial, and a part that can only think about the next day's hangover etc.

i basically did e once a week or more from about 2002-2005 (lol mental health), so like i've had my share. but more and more as i get older (and maybe attitudes become ever more liberal) i see that many many people have an ecstasy phase, like even people who would have prob thought it was like some dangerous habit when i was 18 - like jock types from school you'd suddenly see out in dublin some christmas and they've all discovered this magical thing and are dancing badly etc, or different people from where i grew up. i have started to see drugs more as a sort of well that you can draw from, with a finite amount of joy in it. my sister has a phd in drug abuse (i mean diff to my one lol) and when i was 19 and doing drugs all the time she used to worry and wonder if i would ever stop etc, or if it would get worse, which even then i found mostly ludicrous, though i wasn't able to see a future in which i wouldn't be doing ecstasy every weekend. i know now that that's crazy because of this well idea - there's only so much you can draw from the well. i mean everyone's is a little different and has a different combo of substances in there, but equally it doesn't surprise me, and kind of has a nice life symmetry to it, to see people who were more straight-laced or under control are now having their wilder time.

agreed on those comments. i have like definitely had my share too and the regular use is no stranger to me. i went through a phase where i would have just a weeeeee bit daily. the well analogy is a good one: you have to know yourself, and the possible dangers.

i came to the same conclusion, though i never did e nearly that often, even. perhaps my well is just not that big... though i kind of saw it as my mind learning to adjust to the rush of happy feelings and no longer interpreting them as "real joy," so while a lot of the pleasurable effects were there, particularly in regard to my experience with music, i could no longer participate in the wide-eyed positive social vibes--it's like my tendency toward a melancholic, apathetic disposition learned to see through the drug and was like no way, self, you don't get to have fun that easily. i still love the stuff, and i'll do it again in the future, but i'll prob keep it to once a year at most.

relate to what you say a lot - some deeper more reticent self became so assertive before and after taking it that it cast a shadow over whether to take it at all, so when it used to be an automatic yes if someone offered it, it became an automatic no, eventually. and that was kind of the end.

even if it's not as good now - i still can enjoy it if i pick the right times. also i can stay out at clubs pretty late/early without need for drugs...
