Opiates are the best. When my mom was in the hospital, her male Filipino nurse kept asking her, "Want some morphine? Calm you downnnn." And my mom, out of some misguided sense of responsibility, kept refusing. She also had a prescription of Percocet in the house that she never dipped into.

i have been way too into opiates the handful of times i've been hospitalized to ever trust myself w/ heroin.

i always rate my pain honestly the first time they ask but after they've put the IV in i start rounding up

That pain level thing makes no sense. I never know if they want you to rate it as 10 being the most pain you've ever been in, or, as the way I understand it, 10 as the worst pain you could ever imagine in the history of the world.

never tried. only drug i've tried is still just good ole marijuana.

percocets and codeine have both felt very good, would rate my pain again

i've been in 9 or 10 pain level when my patella tendon separated from the bone and i was unable to move my leg. one shot of morphine and ~butterflies circling my head~

xpost yeah painkillers, I can definitely see why people get hooked on them. being a naturally nervous dude with a speedy heartrate, I had my first painkillers after I had my wisdom teeth out, and it was bliss, I felt like I had slowed down to teh speed everyone else was at. Then I started stealing my dad's pain meds until I finally realized it was probably best to find another way to slow myself down.

This stuff left me in a state of heartbreak for a year after I stopped. Best relationship ever.

kind of romanticized it in high school because so many musicians i revered used it, was a stupid freshman in college and was befriended by a junkie who lived in my dorm (along with her older junkie boyfriend who more or less lived there as well) and used it enough to really like it but not enough to be physically addicted to it. only snorting, my friends were protective enough to not want me to shoot it. my life was pretty screwed up going into this and the idea of checking out was very attractive. i went home that summer and had my wisdom teeth out and the codeine just like...didn't do anything. i tried snorting the pills and even smoking them and also nothing. i realized what a pathetic loser i was and when i went back to school resolved to never use it again and never have in the 13 years or however long its been. the junkie friends from freshman year managed to guilt me into "lending" them hundreds showing up at my dorm sick. i eventually cut them off and started playing in a band that took up all my time instead.

it's strange now, i immediately get sick off any codeine or opiate substance. i imagine that this is for the best.

"Chipping" is my new favorite drug word. The image it conjures up for me is a well-mulched playground.

had morphine in the hospital when I was 14 with a busted knee. single greatest feeling (drugwise) i ever had. complete bliss.

Oh god yes. I've never done heroin, I stopped liking Percocet and Vicodan and I took a couple morphine pills once and *hated* it, so I figured opiates were no fun.

Then I got a patient-controlled morphine IV while in the hospital for a skull fracture and concussion. The drug going in was one of the most glorious thing I've ever felt. Besides easing the sickening head pain, it felt like I was exhaling for an impossibly long time and a cool, refreshing, glowing feeling radiated from my IV arm, through my chest, and toward my limbs.

I'm really, really glad I never tried heroin b/c if it is anything like IV morphine, I would have to do it more than once.

Tried it a couple of times myself and it never really took. I have strong angry feelings about it due to dead friends and ruined friends and this worthless junkie ex who managed to suck two years of my 20s into a black hole of shit and misery. Plus a couple of times I nearly died/met grievous bodily harm because I was a huge dummy who trusted junkies with my safety.

It's fortunate that sticking needles into myself scares me, as it no doubt saved me from becoming a heroin junkie....

Never used heroin (and yes, i know it doesn't have to be injected), but have used all sorts of other opiates/opioids, generally not for recreational purposes though.

I don't quite get the demonisation of heroin, given that morphine is legal and pharmacologically very similar. Heroin was invented by Bayer and was legal for decades as a cough medicine, and even marketed towards children for awhile. (of course in much smaller doses than used to get high).

the only friend i ever had who was a legit heroin junkie who never cleaned up just died of an overdose last month.

at age 12 my mom discovered me still taking my daily dose of codeine the doctor had prescribed me two weeks after i had gotten better and had a minor freakout.
