A new Keith Canisius ep just popped up, sooo good!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 29 February 2012 19:09 (six years ago) Permalink

can't remember if i mentioned them but i've been digging Cue Fanfare a lot lately, though their current release was from last year. similar to the likes of ashby, birdie etc but without so much of the loungey tinges that unpleasantly colour much of the marina groups that they loosely resemble

gobbie billespie (electricsound), Thursday, 1 March 2012 06:17 (six years ago) Permalink

thanks for the canisius tip, enjoying that EP.

^ could be good, could be shit, who knows?

Feebs K-Tel (NickB), Friday, 2 March 2012 16:38 (six years ago) Permalink

Worth documenting perhaps, but could do without another rehash of the Tony Wilson/ Alan McGee/ Geoff Travers Stories TBH.

good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Friday, 2 March 2012 16:47 (six years ago) Permalink

Yeah, looking at the guy's blog, I think that might be the bulk of it.

Feebs K-Tel (NickB), Friday, 2 March 2012 16:54 (six years ago) Permalink

Thank you so much to whoever nominated this song in the 2011 tracks countdown - has turned into one of my three or four faves from the whole year:

p sure that is the most indie pop thing ever made

stay in school if you want to kiw (Gukbe), Friday, 2 March 2012 23:08 (six years ago) Permalink

that whole single is great imo. so much better than their previous thing free loan investments

gobbie billespie (electricsound), Friday, 2 March 2012 23:16 (six years ago) Permalink

Lies and slander. It is pretty good though

The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Friday, 2 March 2012 23:21 (six years ago) Permalink

Favourite Roger Gunnarsson thing is The Garlands, but that Pushy Parents EP is 100% gold.

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Saturday, 3 March 2012 02:20 (six years ago) Permalink

Yeah I have the Garlands split single with someone and it's great, got it when they played London Popfest a couple of years ago

The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Saturday, 3 March 2012 09:37 (six years ago) Permalink

Goddamn I wish I was 16 and could get fucked up to that Clound Nothings.

Mule, Monday, 5 March 2012 21:59 (six years ago) Permalink

Besides being a great Godz song, they're a great Chicago band who just released their self-titled album. "Miracle" is on it, though this is technically from the single from last October.

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 08:55 (six years ago) Permalink

They're like a fuzzy hybrid of The Bats and Outrageous Cherry.

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 08:56 (six years ago) Permalink

after that description i was actually disappointed to find out i'd already heard of them

their LP is really good

keythhtyek, Sunday, 11 March 2012 16:13 (six years ago) Permalink

the new megaphonic thrift album on club ac30 is a thing of shoegaze beauty

Delia Derbyshire's Complete Moog Cookery Course (electricsound), Monday, 19 March 2012 02:14 (six years ago) Permalink

marty donald demo-

sounds a lot like the lucksmiths obviously. new band 'last leaves' with 3 of the 4 lucksmiths and a new drummer.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:50 (six years ago) Permalink

do you actually like it?

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:52 (six years ago) Permalink

(not a trick q)

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:52 (six years ago) Permalink

yeah. is that the wrong answer?:) i like everything marty though. besides, it's a demo, i am sure when they finish it it will be free jazz skronk and beats.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 01:00 (six years ago) Permalink

ha no not wrong, but yeah it's probably my least favourite song of his thus far. will be v interested to see how it goes with the full band treatment. choosing to sing his own songs was an interesting idea

groanland (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 01:11 (six years ago) Permalink

feeling this and playing it a lot lately:

good luck Peeta Mellark (Bee OK), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:07 (six years ago) Permalink

dude's voice is a dealbreaker imo

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:20 (six years ago) Permalink

dude's stupid face is a dealbreaker imo. i should have listened to it with the browser minimised.

trimdon orange explosion (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:23 (six years ago) Permalink

i have been trying to figure out who he sounds like and it finally it me, it's Jónsi from Sigur Rós.

good luck Peeta Mellark (Bee OK), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:23 (six years ago) Permalink

it hit

good luck Peeta Mellark (Bee OK), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:24 (six years ago) Permalink

That's not it. He sounds more like a sleepy Antony Hegarty.

i should have listened to it with the browser minimised.

I did that.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 03:27 (six years ago) Permalink

Sounds like Kermit.

Evan, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 04:21 (six years ago) Permalink

the new Lotus Plaza record (Deerhunter) sounds pretty good to me, esp. considering the fact that im not a Deerhunter fan

nostormo, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 13:13 (six years ago) Permalink

this Megaphonic Thrift album is better at Imperial Teen than the new Imperial Teen album.

skip, Thursday, 22 March 2012 01:31 (six years ago) Permalink

new single by The School not bad, a bit less of a drag than the non-single tracks on their album. but the opening track is lifting part of the melody of something else and i'm struggling to put my finger on it

and she really needs to lose the fucking autotune

dieter bummer (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 03:07 (six years ago) Permalink

music sounds like tramway, it's ok.

keythhtyek, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 04:10 (six years ago) Permalink

i like "give you the ghost" by polica a lot

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 29 March 2012 09:25 (six years ago) Permalink

the newest klaus & kinski record is really very nice. seems as if they don't get much credit for being kinda great. they churn out the records too.

keythhtyek, Friday, 30 March 2012 03:20 (six years ago) Permalink

listening to the compilation the rainyards put up on bandcamp. fantastic. in spite of having a friend that was obsessed with summershine once upon a time I was completely unaware of their goodness.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:12 (six years ago) Permalink

it is a thing of absolute beauty.

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:21 (six years ago) Permalink

it is. it reminds of rick menck/paul chastain but better than that. papa topo's mini-lp is lovely as well, it is like the school record I was hoping for, in spanish of course.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:49 (six years ago) Permalink

ha. i really disliked oso panda but the follow up single was good, so i'm interested

titanius sterlingsmith, fancyman of corwood (electricsound), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 02:54 (six years ago) Permalink

when they buried oso panda in their next video it was cute. apparently they are like 19. they sound almost cosmopolitan now compared to oso panda. the milkyway influence.

scumulator (electricsound), Monday, 9 April 2012 22:45 (six years ago) Permalink

surprised more people haven't tried to emulate the newish Sonic Youth albums - great template for a young band.

'sleepyhead' off the new strawberry whiplash album is a cute little MBV rip

Novella EP on italian beach babes like a better Slumber Party. lovely.

real 69 for my sham friends (electricsound), Thursday, 12 April 2012 05:26 (six years ago) Permalink

might not be the right thread

Bee OK, Thursday, 12 April 2012 06:22 (six years ago) Permalink

Love the newer Novella stuff. Pretty good live too. Although 'Don't Believe Ayn Rand' has a chorus that I can't help but mishear as 'cheese, sausage roll' (it's 'she's lost control).
