Quite enjoying The Declining Winter's "Lost Tapes". Undecided whether the decision for it to be released as a cassette and as a collection of demos rather than a "proper" album is a bit like waving a little white flag or honest. The blurry (non) production suits it, though.

I'm hoping it'll eventually appear on TDW's bandcamp page, as has now happened for Fragment #5. A very new song "Season Without" is also up there now.

Also, $12US to ship a cassette tape to Canada from the US? I'll shed no further tears for the death of physical media.

And... a digital version of Lost Songs is now available on bandcamp.

There was a positive review of the new album in Fluid Radio this week. The author managed to avoid any comparisons to Hood, which was refreshing. As much as I've used the Hood association to explore similar projects (e.g., both Sierpinski albums are en route to my mailbox as I write this), it's encouraging to see these new efforts judged on their own merits.

Cold House has been on my list for like 8 years and I still have yet to ever see a cd or download of it for sale

I think the Domino Records stock of Cold House got destroyed in that warehouse fire.

there was a vinyl repress of cold house a few years ago. but that album is not difficult to find.

the sierpinski albums were great. matt robson was a cool guy. wonder where he's at these days.

I've only heard the 4 streaming tracks, not the full thing.

So the Sierpinski albums have arrived and I'm siding with akm on their merits. These are excellent, especially Evening Water Project.

New Memory Drawings is up on spotify. Nothing shocking on first listen, just very consistently good, like the last one.

Yes, thanks djh, and you are right! Barely know records that are so suitable to crawl up in the darkness to, with the wind and rain battering outside. Embracing northern grimness and misery. Rustic Houses feels more late summer-ish, Cold House is for when it gets below zero imho.

I found myself staring out the window forlornly to Outside Closer yesterday. Still Rain Fell indeed.

Yeah, the Seaman and The Tattered Sail album is excellent. And the 10 hour digital version is a particularly great deal for £6.

Bill Seaman and Craig Tattersall (who played on some of the mid-period Hood recordings.) Not particularly Hood-related soundwise but as ambient recordings, it's an exceptional release.
