It made it through the gig, but i wouldn't "GIG" gig with it (ya dig?)

natlawdp, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 15:17 (twelve years ago) link

i wouldn't gig with it b/c it wouldn't be as fun as playing through a tube amp.

beachville, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 17:40 (twelve years ago) link

It would be fun for messing around and maybe recording, but I wouldn't gig with it.

beachville, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 17:41 (twelve years ago) link

Warm up backstage (but they don't have a backstage here in the Philippines) and use it in your bedroom, but don't gig with it.

beachville, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 17:44 (twelve years ago) link

So I don't gig with it. I baby my gear.

beachville, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 18:08 (twelve years ago) link

In my opinion, don't buy this pedal, unless it's just for kicks and giggles in your basement. Don't gig with it unless you want people leaving the show covering their ears.

beachville, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 18:09 (twelve years ago) link

Against my better judgement... i gigged with it; i'll never gig with it again. Only gig-worthy gear for me & my gigs.

natlawdp, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 21:13 (twelve years ago) link

Don't buy this kick pedal, unless it's just for kicks and giggles in your basement.

just bought a phenomenal piece of gear, allows me to do many new things as well as making what i already do sound better. really, i haven't been this happy with a purchase for a looooong time- can't stop playing!!!

-having said that, i'd never gig with it.

There is no way you can gig this.

Can you gig it? No you can't.

c'est ne pas un car wash (snoball), Monday, 5 March 2012 14:54 (twelve years ago) link

It is true that the paint chips easily so if you want it to look pretty, you shouldn't gig with it.

I'm not 100% sure I'd trust the stock switch for a gig.

beachville, Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:18 (twelve years ago) link

I wouldn't use it as my main gigging rig, but it's ok for a backup.

So, for me, the answer to my question is, no, its not gigworthy yet

i had this, but my 18 yo son one day gigged with it,so now it's HIS main guitar!

I wouldn't use this at a gig without a backup, but I don't have any money so I have to.

let me revise my last post and clarify that although you could put a mic in front of a vibro champ and gig with it, it's not very practical.

t_s (how's life), Friday, 21 December 2012 16:40 (eleven years ago) link

This has to be the most un-gigworthy '70s amp I have ever seen the guts of.

Lightweight Giggable Amp??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there such a thing?

Been advised to not do any heavy lifting as a result of a hernia, yet still want to keep gigging.

t_s (how's life), Friday, 21 December 2012 16:41 (eleven years ago) link

I too bought the chilli dog as my first pedal. for the money, its cheeky fun, but the issues of pitching the octave on the E and to a degree on the A strings render it ungiggable really.

Hey, you bunch of sad sacks, these are great Guitars! Play one and you'll be eating every one of your words. Unless you don't really know a good Guitar when you see one and you just like to hate.

Squier Classic Vibe Strats and Teles are gig-worthy great looking and great sounding Guitars!!!

Injured myself at last night's gig.

how's life, Tuesday, 26 March 2013 23:02 (eleven years ago) link

Last night's gig was kind of the icing on the cake.

how's life, Tuesday, 26 March 2013 23:02 (eleven years ago) link

Well, last night's gig will go down as one of the Top 10 Gigs of my lifetime. It was like playing to the front row of a concert all night.

how's life, Tuesday, 26 March 2013 23:02 (eleven years ago) link

So I brought the Heritage H140 LP to last night's gig and dragged it out for 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'Takin Care of Business' .

Unboxing the unit reveals a thin and light unit that feels quite plastic and not exactly gig-ready.

I'm planning on picking up the bass, and I've decided that I'm probably going to get the Rumble 350, by Fender. I'm planning on joining my church band when I'm good enough, so the amp has to be gig worthy. We have one LOUD guitarist, one bassist (although they said they might accept another one), one keyboardist, one drummer, and three vocals.

how's life, Monday, 12 August 2013 17:52 (ten years ago) link

...it's very dependable...and i'd wouldn't gig with it unless i had a backup...but that's not the guitar's fault...that's mine...because i use many detunings, and would rather switch guitars that detune it in the middle of a show. but if i was to have one set tuning...i'd take it..

I have an Epihone Zakk Wylde bullseye. It took a direct hit from an EF5 tornado, followed by 3 days outdoor exposure to torrential rains. It was mummified in a coating of wind blown insulation, tar, and debris. I cleaned it off, changed the strings, and started playing - great guitar, amazing quality. Definitely gig-worthy equipment!

how's life, Monday, 9 December 2013 14:09 (ten years ago) link

I think that same exact thing has happened to Zakk Wylde himself a couple times!

behringer powered mixer went out at a record store gig, yet it was still gig worthy- provided 'gig worthy' means an 18yr old kid lying on the floor and banging on various edges of the device while the mics stuttered away.

(i could have stopped typing at 'behringer powered mixer')

Ive never understood the whole "I buy guitars to play them, if your not gonna gig that $8000 guitar, why own it"

glasses jacket jerfman (how's life), Thursday, 24 April 2014 17:11 (nine years ago) link

Why would I dread velcro day? It means I'm gonna gig that pedal!

glasses jacket jerfman (how's life), Thursday, 24 April 2014 17:12 (nine years ago) link

The 1959 amp with the gain dialed back sounds very good for a crunchy type of tone, too. Think I'm going to gig that setup this friday.

glasses jacket jerfman (how's life), Thursday, 24 April 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

You'll have to hire piano movers if you're going to gig that rig....

glasses jacket jerfman (how's life), Thursday, 24 April 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

IMHO, oil finishes can be gorgeous and are just fine for guitars that receive occasional use (as do most gunstocks). But if you're going to gig that guitar regularly, you'll eventually appreciate it a whole lot less.

glasses jacket jerfman (how's life), Thursday, 24 April 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

None of my guitars are worth $4K. But if one were,I would definitely gig it.

The only warning to heed here: Don’t slap the FMG on your board and immediately gig without knowing the Tone knob goes brighter backwards.

how's life, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 13:48 (nine years ago) link

Yes, that was an interesting experience, to buy a Private Stock and immediately gig it, kind of nerve-wracking.

how's life, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 13:48 (nine years ago) link

Anyone that could find an old Vox that still has original filter caps and would immediately gig it without any servicing whatsoever, and be surprised if it developed a problem, is a fool.

how's life, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 13:49 (nine years ago) link

You are describing your need to share, and that, my brother, is pent up generosity. Sorry to hear you're gigless. That makes two of us. Grrrr..

Even cut down as being too techniqual & soulless from guys who would kill for my gigs ...

You can optimize your system/set-up for loud, pants-flapping fun at 20 feet away;

how's life, Friday, 6 October 2017 14:57 (six years ago) link

With that HIWATT singing were your pants flapping in the breeze???

how's life, Friday, 6 October 2017 14:57 (six years ago) link

Are you familiar with monitoring a mic'd signal through a wedge/headphones, or are you a guitar-cab-pants-flapping guy?

how's life, Friday, 6 October 2017 14:57 (six years ago) link

As I said, I don't expect pants flapping bass but I do need something that won't fart out all the time at ~90-95 dB.
