The latter is certainly true. I did do some painting today, though.

A noob or n00b is someone that lacks intellegance or common sense, most people think that noob is a word used only in the online gaming world, but in reality it is becoming an ever popular word with teenage society. a noob could be simply a level 100 running round shouting ''WTF DO I GO!?'' or someone calling someone else a noob and then getting hit with a brick, anyone can call anyone a noob, but normally they are noobs themselves
*gets shot with chaingun*
"this game is no good, you all suck noobish balls you stupid noobs!*

This thread moves too fast.
I remember when I first met this student pal of mine, and he said he plays the bass, and I was like "Wow, really?" because I'd been just listening to stuff like Mingus and Stanley Clarke, and then I asked what band he plays in, and he replied, "Children of Bodom". I had to hold my tongue not to say my opinion on that band, because the guy was really nice and friendly.
― Tuomas, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link
good story
― ^@^, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link
Just to make it more clear, Children of Bodom is a local death metal band. Or something like that, I'm not too familiar with metal subgenres.
― Tuomas, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:13 (sixteen years ago) link

playing in a death metal band is like the golf of scandinavia
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link
or it will be in ten years or so
Dude, Bodom hoodies are at the mall here. Pretty well-known in those circles.
The Finnish foreign exchange student at my high school was a complete snob about the pronunciation of Bodom. If someone said it "boh-dum" she would go on this huge soapbox about Lake Bodom and how can you be so stupid that you don't know about it, etc etc etc for at least five minutes.

She was very, very funny about it. "I'm not allowed to wear a see-through shirt to school? What the hell is this country! In Finland, we get all our food for free and bus rides, too. And we actually think!" It was kind of awesome.

i'm assuming that was after you explained what food and buses were to her
― ^@^, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:24 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm not if all the Finns can pronounce "Bodom" properly either, it's a Swedish name and should be pronounced boo-dom, but I've often heard people say it boh-dom, the Finnish way. There was a very famous murder case in the sixties that happened at Lake Bodom, which is why the band chose that name I assume, but I don't see why your exchange student thought Americans should know about that.
― Tuomas, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:25 (sixteen years ago) link
I know! She was hilarious because she was so vituperous about fucking EVERYTHING. "These trees are so ugly here! I hate the sounds of your filthy American birds!"
― Abbott, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:26 (sixteen years ago) link
Did you also explain that she paid 50% taxes? Or did they not teach that in Finland?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:26 (sixteen years ago) link
We don't get free bus rides here! Free lunch in schools yes, but no free bus rides.

Tuomas, because I hate Jaco Pas-bore-ius and play in a rock band means I only play rock music? I see you only deal in rock solid logic, pal.
ZING
― roxymuzak, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:28 (sixteen years ago) link
Actually, I think I'm wrong, you do get free bus tickets if your school is more than three kilometers away or something. But I've always lived in the city where the school is within walking distance, so there were no free rides for me.
