the miguel migs/meshell n/deetron track is amazing btw

and this thread is already getting too youtube-heavy for me :(

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:56 (twelve years ago) link

might be better to post discogs links rather than youtubes (they tend to have the youtube in the discogs page anyway)

post, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:59 (twelve years ago) link

Woah at the Me'Shell tune.

I know it's the Deetron remix but quite separately Miguel Migs seems to be moving into more interesting territory of late it seems?

^^^ Late 2011 bobbin but it might have been overlooked given it came out in mid-December. Most Maceo Plex singles are pretty great but this one is amazing.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 21:23 (twelve years ago) link

hmmm I wonder why maceo plex bores me to death

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:14 (twelve years ago) link

i LOVE that gesloten cirkel track, not sure i'm the right person to dissect everything that goes on in that one but i also love the interplay between a sort of ebm/industrial influence and more euphoric vibes. i need more tracks like this in my life

and re the h-house thread: if you sift through the tired arguments about whether it's 'proper' dance music or not you will find strong recommendations for the new ital full length, and some talk about the blondes full length (which is also p good imo). also people seem to like those new peaking lights remixes on 100% silk.

seriously tho, if you follow this thread i strongly suggest checking out that ital lp. good stuff.

Currently enjoying this: http://www.discogs.com/Huxley-Let-It-Go/release/3407427 - though with Huxley, I always like his tracks significantly more on the first few listens.

Josh L, Thursday, 16 February 2012 09:34 (twelve years ago) link

I suppose this goes in the hipster house thread, but damnit I like this better than pretty much anything Ital has done on his own and seems to fit here just fine:

hey what do you guys think of RESTORATION records?

lucretio, marieu, analogue cops, etc ... is this going to be their year?

the late great, Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:32 (twelve years ago) link

I heard 'why you love me' by analogue cops a lot last year. I only know that one and the captain power ep, i should check out some of the other stuff

post, Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:49 (twelve years ago) link

like for a while it seemed everyone was playing why you love me

post, Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:50 (twelve years ago) link

that's cause it was included on a four-track sampler for a dettmann mix (distributed by music man) ... it's really hard to find this stuff, even on slsk or whatever ...

is there a name for this type of stuff? in my mind it's strongly linked to the same sort of mentality as labels like SEX TAGS though in practice the sound is kinda different.

on hardwax i think they usually call it TRUE DISCO HOUSE BANGERS or DJ TOOL DISCO HOUSE or PROPER HOUSE DJ TOOL TRACKS but i bet i can come up with a catchier name than that

the late great, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:07 (twelve years ago) link

you've revealed your identity tonight, the late great! (unless this was obv to everyone else already)

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:27 (twelve years ago) link

Didn't know about that dettmann mix cd! I bought the 12 after hearing Zip play it.

post, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:37 (twelve years ago) link

the sex tags stuff seems hardest to get hold of, daren't look at discogs prices for the ones i want

post, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:38 (twelve years ago) link

some of the big-name ones (skatebard) run for like $100 but others go for $10

I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts on this guy's album, 2011. Ghibli is a local dude, but I think this is quite good. Especially "Kristina." Disco samples and even a Dirty Money edit!

The Donato Dozzy and Neel collaboration album Voices From The Lake is The Shit. Not posting any tracks because you really have to listen to it as a whole to feel the love.

so gorgeous

(pachanga boys = rebolledo + superpitcher)

the first two tracks on that ep are very odd and unpleasant, kind of relentless and gabbaey, and i was so sceptical, and then this track happened and i melted

btw is anyone going to marcellus pittman in london tonight? i am

and not clear when this will see a release but love this Benjamin Brunn joint, his sound definitely fits right now so hopefully he'll do well out of 2012

re Pachanga Boys, I like the tune "Legs" Ivan Smagghe played on Beats in Space a coupla weeks back. Says also on Hippie Dance but can't tell what release. Or maybe not out yet?

pachanga boys - time is amazing

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Friday, 2 March 2012 20:34 (twelve years ago) link

I guess this is the lolconcept behind the weird contrast between the first two tracks and "time": It´s "Girlcatcher", which consists of three charming tracks specially made to seduce your catch (girl or boy), and a special handmade tool to trap her (or him).

This is one of them timeless albums I will still love in a decade, like Monolake's Cinemascope. Its seamless, you become so immersed in it you don't even notice what track you are listening to.
