one more thing jon, that particular set was on a summer afternoon in 1995, the day of an awesome show at the palace in hollywood with thinking fellers union local 282. we ate at a mediocre chinese place across the street (is that place still there?). that was the debut of the "super ae" material in the usa.

What does "kansai" mean?

Also: Nankai Hawkwind - RFI? (Eye, Nishida of Danse Macabre and Edi from Genbaku Onanies)

Apparently there was a whole series of noise bands whose names were puns on sports team + other band! and some compillation of said bands called Aiyoku Jinmin Juni Kyudan.

The liner notes go on about PRO WRESTLING pun noise bands!

Also, the notes talk about the idea of playing classic punk songs really slow. Hmmm...

yeah, i am always mispelling japanese words (in romanji) so i am forgiving when i read liner notes or lyrics.

kansai = japanese region where osaka/kyoto are (ie, where boredoms are from).

Just heard Super Ae for the first time tonight. For the first ten minutes or so I was like "ah, this isn't anything special", but after hearing where it went from there, wow. This is the shit right here. Also got VCN which I only heard like twice 3 years ago, I'll give it a spin later tonight. Thanks for the tip on Super Ae, Jon.

FWIW I heard Omoide Hatoba before the Boredoms. They played their stuff on KPFA in Berkeley's Pitch a Fit almost 10 years ago. Who cares.
