I have seen it in a thee-ate-er

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:38 (twelve years ago) link

beaver trilogy, sounds like my prom night!

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:38 (twelve years ago) link

I just had a great idea.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:41 (twelve years ago) link

Is it about Nick's prom night?

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:42 (twelve years ago) link

No but it relates to the Beaver Trilogy. I'm actually the THIRD part.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:43 (twelve years ago) link

I have seen it in a thee-ate-er

Me too!

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:06 (twelve years ago) link

Anyway, not to be a PEDANT, but doesn't Agathon from BSG spell his first name with a K?

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:06 (twelve years ago) link

yes but i like carl agatha more than karl agatha, so i think Jenny should keep it

horseshoe, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:07 (twelve years ago) link

ALSO CAN I BE A SHILL FOR A SECOND and encourage you all to attend the (erotic) FICTION CONTEST held by Jenny-Carl's health organization at which:

Hey, am I actually reading in this thing? I said I would but I don't remember if I got confirmation. Sadly I'm pretty sure that whatever I read will definitely not touch last year's selection.

Jesse--this will be a great warm-up for your one-man show!

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:09 (twelve years ago) link

Are you guys writing this stuff, or is it like smut karaoke?

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

xpost he does, but carl agatha spells it with a c.

Jesse, it will prob be like last year and you'll just have to show up and volunteer.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

I am not writing anything. I only WISH I had written what I read last year. It's really a shame the video didn't turn out b/c that was one of my top 10 shining moments in life. SEMI-EDIBLE SLURRY (paraphrased?)

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:13 (twelve years ago) link

I wrote mine, but it is high concept and involves images and a projector.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:26 (twelve years ago) link

Oh! Wow.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:29 (twelve years ago) link

Is accidentally-racist-jokes karaoke in that Top 10?

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:30 (twelve years ago) link

Definitely.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:32 (twelve years ago) link

have any of you guys been to native foods? it's a vegan restaurant chain and there's one in the loop on south clark. i'm intrigued, might check it out next time i have $$$ to eat out: http://nativefoods.com/

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:28 (twelve years ago) link

I haven't been, but a non-veg friend was talking up the one in Wicker Park. Sounded promising.

long duk dan (dan m), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:33 (twelve years ago) link

if i were in WP i'd probably eat somewhere else but for the loop it's exciting.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:34 (twelve years ago) link

i just mean there are lots of interesting places with veggie options in WP, not so much downtown

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:35 (twelve years ago) link

i go to the loop 2-3x a year

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:38 (twelve years ago) link

maybe a few times more

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:38 (twelve years ago) link

i remember when i only went to the loop 2-3 times a year. i was so young then. so naive.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:40 (twelve years ago) link

Let's line up by how many times you've been to the loop.

Jeff, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:40 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks to school I pretty much live there.

tanuki, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:41 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks to work I pretty much work there.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:42 (twelve years ago) link

I've probably only ever been to the loop like a couple dozen times.

However, I have a workshop at the Harold Washington Library next Friday and I'm really excited! I will be able to ride the el to work and everything.

the glass of beer (askance johnson), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:43 (twelve years ago) link

i used to work on jackson but that was nearly 6 years ago

SIX YEARS AGO ffs

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:43 (twelve years ago) link

my life: where is it going, where has it been

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:43 (twelve years ago) link

i literally lived in the loop, at the center of the coordinate system, when i lived in the dorms my first year of college

1staethyr, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:48 (twelve years ago) link

Those art institute kids that are in the dorm beside my work smoke a lot of cigarettes.

Jeff, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:50 (twelve years ago) link

Columbia students smoke a lot of cigarettes. Actually, people in the South Loop in general smoke a lot of cigarettes.

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

I kind of wish I smoked a lot of cigarettes.

the glass of beer (askance johnson), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:54 (twelve years ago) link

i was always bugged out that culinary students at CHIC (when i worked next door to CHIC) smoked so much - like don't you need those taste buds, dudes?

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:56 (twelve years ago) link

also did you know cigarettes cost like $8 a pack? i don't understand how anyone affords a serious smoking habit.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link

I feel like all cooks/chefs smoke? Maybe I just get that from anthony bourdain.

xp

the glass of beer (askance johnson), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link

i smoked a lot of cigarettes outside of my saic dorm. i was in the one by carson pirie-scott, though, not the fancy newer one across from the chicago theater. (xp i have no idea which one you work by)

1staethyr, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:58 (twelve years ago) link

when I started smoking circa 1992, cigarettes where $2.50 a pack. A GOLDEN AGE>

the glass of beer (askance johnson), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:59 (twelve years ago) link

i used to work on jackson but that was nearly 6 years ago

I worked on Jackson 6+ yrs ago! Technically I've only ever worked in THE LOOP for about a year, cumulatively.

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:00 (twelve years ago) link

who r u 1staethyr?

the only time i smoked was when i lived in india and you could buy half-packs or even single cigarettes from the tobacco dudes

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:01 (twelve years ago) link

I smoked a lot when I was a line cook

well, not while working

long duk dan (dan m), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:02 (twelve years ago) link

I feel like all cooks/chefs smoke? Maybe I just get that from anthony bourdain.

Pretty OTM.

And I smoked a cigarette w/ the wine director at B!n 36. My former co-worker who used to work at B!n said that despite being a heavy smoker, but she had an incredible nose on her.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:03 (twelve years ago) link

when i started smoking cigarettes were $3 a pack, but that was also in texas (where cigarettes are still pretty cheap)

xp i'm just a semi-lurker who live in chicago. i mostly read politics threads i guess, posted some on OWS thread

1staethyr, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:09 (twelve years ago) link

oh ok welcome!

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:09 (twelve years ago) link

Hi 1staethyr and welcome!

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:33 (twelve years ago) link

Hey, related to culinary students, I had dinner last week at the dining room at Kendall College. They have a weeknight prix-fixe 3-course dinner--it's like a restaurant, except the servers and everyone else is in class and being observed. Very good food, nice view of downtown.

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:38 (twelve years ago) link

Hi there! Xp

DUDES I worked on Jackson six years ago! Catty corner from Amanda, even.

Also: when I started smoking, I could afford a pack of cigarettes and a tank of gas w/ my $10/week school year allowance.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:40 (twelve years ago) link

I just had a fancy lawyer lunch at Epic ending with maybe the best bread pudding I have ever eaten.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 19:41 (twelve years ago) link

Not Epic Burger.
