Don't worry guys, I'll stand in all the rare beer lines for you. Except when I send Jenny.

Jeff, Monday, 6 February 2012 23:22 (twelve years ago) link

And sure rare certainly does not always equal good. But with variations that are released yearly like GI Bourbon County Stout, or Founders Kentucky /Canadian Stout, chances are pretty good that it is phenomenal.

Jeff, Monday, 6 February 2012 23:25 (twelve years ago) link

Hold on to your butts, y'all.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 13:24 (twelve years ago) link

Are you ready?

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 13:24 (twelve years ago) link

I changed my user name.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 13:25 (twelve years ago) link

This will only lead to pain and sorrow.

Jeff, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 13:27 (twelve years ago) link

Why are you so afraid of change?

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 13:30 (twelve years ago) link

I LIKE pain and sorrow.

Jeff, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 14:07 (twelve years ago) link

Was it someone in a Chicago thread talking about that Youth Lagoon record? Or am I confusing it with something else? I was walking down Printer's Row from lunch last week and saw the storefront for Hydrogen Plus Records that I'd apparently passed by many times without ever seeing. Anyway, the selection is pretty small and definitely geared only towards whatever Pitchfork is currently hyping, but I did pick up the Youth Lagoon and Pop. 1280 records. Both are really good.

omg! but what does "carl agatha" MEAN? should i not call you "J____" anymore?

It's what I named a character in Rock Band once, kind of after a character in Battlestar Galactica who is super dumb and handsome (Carl Agathon). So it is like a two layer cake of dorkiness. Three layers if you consider it is now an Internet message board handle.

You can still call me Jenny!

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:05 (twelve years ago) link

oh duh! carl agathon is helo!

horseshoe, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:10 (twelve years ago) link

I've never seen you as a Carl.

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:14 (twelve years ago) link

Carl Smithers is a little upset that he won't be the most famous Carl around these parts anymore.

ALSO CAN I BE A SHILL FOR A SECOND and encourage you all to attend the (erotic) FICTION CONTEST held by Jenny-Carl's health organization at which:

* There will be no reiki
* I will make my triumphant return to the stage
* I will loan a book to Dr Advance Johnson
* I might tell you my Mom Samsamuel story but only if there are not too many ppl listening

It is THIS SUNDAY and I vow to BRING IT.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:16 (twelve years ago) link

I like the cognitive dissonance of a buxom lady with a butch name.

Wait, wait, wait, there's going to be a La Lechera's Parlor of Sinful Tales?

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:17 (twelve years ago) link

Yes.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:18 (twelve years ago) link

OMG

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:18 (twelve years ago) link

oh duh! carl agathon is helo!

Yeah! But he was such a dimbulb that I often felt compelled to scold him using his full name.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:21 (twelve years ago) link

It's my Beaver Trilogy. I'm the first installment, then someone (probably not Sean Penn, maybe someone classy like Sarah Polley) will come along and fictionalize this talent show, and that will then be made into another 3rd installment by a known Hollywood weirdo (I am hoping for the woman fka JT Leroy) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beaver_Trilogy

Then all three installments will not be released on DVD ever.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:24 (twelve years ago) link

god, I think I have the beaver trilogy sitting on my hardrive somewhere, I should actually watch it one day

though the trilogy can't really be as good as the this american life piece about it

the glass of beer (askance johnson), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:26 (twelve years ago) link

I dunno, I think it might be. No Ira Glass, for one.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:30 (twelve years ago) link

oh hey it's on youtube

the third kind of dubstep (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:35 (twelve years ago) link

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:38 (twelve years ago) link

beaver trilogy, sounds like my prom night!

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:38 (twelve years ago) link

I just had a great idea.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:41 (twelve years ago) link

Is it about Nick's prom night?

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:42 (twelve years ago) link

No but it relates to the Beaver Trilogy. I'm actually the THIRD part.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:43 (twelve years ago) link

I have seen it in a thee-ate-er

Me too!

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:06 (twelve years ago) link

Anyway, not to be a PEDANT, but doesn't Agathon from BSG spell his first name with a K?

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:06 (twelve years ago) link

yes but i like carl agatha more than karl agatha, so i think Jenny should keep it

horseshoe, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:07 (twelve years ago) link

ALSO CAN I BE A SHILL FOR A SECOND and encourage you all to attend the (erotic) FICTION CONTEST held by Jenny-Carl's health organization at which:

Hey, am I actually reading in this thing? I said I would but I don't remember if I got confirmation. Sadly I'm pretty sure that whatever I read will definitely not touch last year's selection.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:08 (twelve years ago) link

Jesse--this will be a great warm-up for your one-man show!

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:09 (twelve years ago) link

Are you guys writing this stuff, or is it like smut karaoke?

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

xpost he does, but carl agatha spells it with a c.

Jesse, it will prob be like last year and you'll just have to show up and volunteer.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

I am not writing anything. I only WISH I had written what I read last year. It's really a shame the video didn't turn out b/c that was one of my top 10 shining moments in life. SEMI-EDIBLE SLURRY (paraphrased?)

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:13 (twelve years ago) link

I wrote mine, but it is high concept and involves images and a projector.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:26 (twelve years ago) link

Oh! Wow.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:29 (twelve years ago) link

Is accidentally-racist-jokes karaoke in that Top 10?

‘Neuroscience’ and ‘near death’ pepper (Eazy), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:30 (twelve years ago) link

Definitely.

garbage corn fan (Je55e), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:32 (twelve years ago) link

have any of you guys been to native foods? it's a vegan restaurant chain and there's one in the loop on south clark. i'm intrigued, might check it out next time i have $$$ to eat out: http://nativefoods.com/

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:28 (twelve years ago) link

I haven't been, but a non-veg friend was talking up the one in Wicker Park. Sounded promising.

long duk dan (dan m), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:33 (twelve years ago) link

if i were in WP i'd probably eat somewhere else but for the loop it's exciting.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 18:34 (twelve years ago) link
