actually half time show wa decent dan, hate madonna bending ppl who should know better to her will, but shur tis all about da moolah

dan, mostly because of song choices i guess (i think Music sucks, and I think whatever that new pile of crap is, is crap), and Vogue didnt really get a fair shake with the medley treatment. from a production standpoint it was pretty good though

I enjoyed the show. I especially liked the Vogue and Open My Heart parts. If people weren't going to like it then why watch it? I guess hate watching is the thing to do.

i was watching the game and didnt feel like changing the channel during halftime.

i don't have much invested in madonna at this point. and i hate pro sports w/passion. still i wanted to like this. honestly it reeked of desperation. nikki! MIA!! pom-poms!!! medley!!!! C-LO!!!!! gospel choir!!!!! WORLD PEACE

I didn't think it was awful. I liked "Open Your Heart" too but wished she'd done Express Yourself. Anyway, like A Prayer is one of my favorite songs so I was pretty excited about that. Think it's pretty clear that the star was totally that crazy tightrope walking guy.

I loved it except for "Like a Prayer" (a song I've never liked, so it wasn't the performance). Thought "Vogue" was fantastic, "Music" was great because of LMFAO, and after first thinking the new video saved a just slightly-better-than-average song, I'm now really starting to take to the song. Back when Madonna was going through her outrage-a-week phase in early '90s, I wrote a couple of times about how manufactured I thought her Sam Kinison routine on Letterman was. I think it's funny how in 2012, she now delegates her controversies!

She did slip in a little "Open Your Heart"...just a few seconds, though, right?

xp yeah reading a transcript in Q mag of that Letterman interview was a bit of an off-the-bus moment for me with Madge until Ray Of Light came out. actually *watching* the clip years later on You Tube i realised that she looked really messed up and miserable and kinda out-of-control.

"sucked" is too harsh. I didn't care for the dance routines; she looked distracted. Maybe she thought the centurion belt was as fetching as I did.

I read an account this morning that said she had a misstep at one point, so that must have been it. I missed it, or else I just thought she was, uh, voguing.

Watching it now. New single sounds fantastic. Love Nicki & MIA's expressions when they're crossing pom-poms.

"WORLD PEACE" is a classic banality bomb.

OK yeah I just saw a replay on the news - she definitely nearly fell backwards. She did recover quickly tho.

Huh, that was OK. Superbowl halftime is like the closest we can come as a country to true OTT Euro-style spectacle. I'm sure the crowd and audience alike would have been better entertained by one of those full-on drum, cheer and dance corp LMFAO renditions, though.

Hung Up would have been a better choice than Music.

that wasn't bad. not life-changing but enjoyable - she looked relaxed, which she hasn't for a while, and that was a strong selection from her back catalogue.

i like "music" better than "hung up", i think. or about the same. both classics!

"music" was her last US megahit. "hung up" wasn't really super bowl setslist-level big.

"Hung Up" also went platinum and "4 Minutes" went double-platinum according to Wikipedia

and she wasn't gonna do TWO post-'90s hits in addition to the new single, so "music" it is

But my favorite Madonna moment of the weekend was the Guy Fieri sketch on SNL when his Madonna tribue dish was a "weird bucket of mussels".

I thought it was sloppy and ridic and that she wasn't taking it v seriously, also way lol @ slipping on bleachers. That's not to say I didn't love it
