what's the drama with the team? i don't know anything about the meta elements of this game, just that it's fun, looks like it has a lot of potential, and runs on a mac

I tried out the demo, very quickly. Seems pretty good, they've included missions and challenges which I guess keeps things interesting.

Only complaint was that I didn't like some of the internal ghosted views, looks cluttered.

One of the developers homes was burgled, and the thief made away with two laptops containing a) the current code and b) the recent backup. They hadn't made an off-site backup - weeks of work lost - one of the developers having a breakdown on twitter and declaring the project 'over' - Angry Internet Men, with the tact and empathy for which they've become famous, declaring that this was a scam to keep the pre-funding of the game - enormous shitstorm.

Then everyone had a good night's sleep and work continued.

as far as a basic template to be built upon, i think it's way more interesting than minecraft or sleep is death and i think letting a community develop stories + narratives using the tech could be incredibly cool.

in the demo, you need to eat waaay too often. unless i'm doing something drastically wrong (you drag food items into the heart item yes?)

lol i panicked, after i'd left my back door open and zombies invaded the kitchen. so i ran outside to the shed, tried to build my first barricade and accidentally boarded myself up into a corner of the shed. Couldn't see a way of removing the barricades.

then read up a bit, and realised that i should have used planks of wood instead.

(but yes i know, barricading myself in the shed was stupid itfp)

nine years pass...

This is still a thing, and the beta build makes things look and run a lot better (main character is 3d model rather than 2d sprite)

Watching someone recently twitch stream it and seeing the amount of things this game has makes me want to jump in. It just seems like a huge slog into nothingness unfortunately. I guess making up your own story is the way to go with this one.

two years pass...

Still playing this from time to time. Had a big session last night, multiplayer with friend. Resulted in us finding a map that someone had written a location of a house on, finding a van and loaded up supplied and travelling halfway across the map. Various hilarities later, finding house was a cool already barricaded and loaded with weapons.
