Yeah, advance notice is more what I meant I guess. I think maybe shooting for the springtime would be best/easiest. I might be going up there the weekend of the 20th but if I do I'll be out in the woods most of the time.

dan m, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, ok.

KitCat, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I think the other thing is that if I went up there, I would ideally want to take both Friday and Monday off work. Otherwise, with driving, you're only there for a day and a half.

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:49 (sixteen years ago) link

This is a very good point.

dan m, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey John or anyone else who knows these things:

Which of these places is easiest to access via public transportation?

I would also be intersted in knowing that.

And yes, that is a very good point. Speaking of time off, I just got those 3 days off! WHOO HOO!

(can he swing/from a web/no he can't/he's just a pug etc.)

Ok this is why we need new threads: you go away for a few hours, 50 posts happen, you come back and can't see where you left off, so you have to load the entire thread and it takes literally minutes. Amirite, people?

this happens to me several times a day, most days. new thread, anyone?

JuliaA, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Jenny, I didn't look at that link that closely, but I'm pretty sure that North Branch Trail System is the only one in Chicago proper. You can get there by taking the Red Line up to Bryn Mawr and then the #84 Peterson bus.

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Ohh my poor mother. She just called me b/c my sister is, completely unsurprisingly, being a giant baby. Also, DIDN'T take any Lamaze classes, as it turns out, and has no idea how to handle contractions or how to focus on anything else when she's in pain, and is totally refusing to pull herself together. I realize this may sound like a harsh judgement of someone who's IN LABOR RIGHT NOW, but this is so, so Kati all over that it's 100% unsurprising...I'M FINE I DON'T NEED YOU GO AWAY LEAVE ME ALONE OMG OMG WHAT'S HAPPENING HELP ME SAVE MEEEEEE SOMEONE MAKE THIS NOT MY PROBLEM HEEEELLP!!!!

xp to Jordan ahahahahahahahhaaa

Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:58 (sixteen years ago) link

I solve that problem by not reading anything above the cut.

err... xp to Julia.

John are any of them accessible via Metra?

Jenny, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I told my mother to slap her, that'll give her something else to focus on.

Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link

You should consider becoming a doula.

Jenny, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link

I know, how has the world gotten this far without my help? It is a mystery.

Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

It looks like that same North Branch Trail also has a Metra stop very close (the Central stop on the Milwaukee District North Line). As for the rest, I couldn't tell you, without consulting my big Chicagoland atlas.

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Thank you John. You're my fact-checkin' cuz.

Jenny, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:05 (sixteen years ago) link

It's either that or fact-check the article on current events in Bosnia sitting in front of me.

Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:40 (sixteen years ago) link

chicago kevin, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Is a dickhole worse or not as bad as an asshole?

kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Hi.
First a question - the headline says 21" and the ad says 19". Which is it?I am interested in seeing the bike. I'm available tonight after 5:30 or Saturday after 2:30

Thanks
Jesse

The bike is actually a 22 inch. It has the high frame. I am 6"1 and it has room to spare when I ride it. if your height is over 5"7. it will be fine for you.

OK. I am actually 5'6" so I guess this would probably not work for me. But thank you.

Hi, why in the world you so hung up on this crap?, why don't you simply ride the bike and see how it feels.. GEEZ!!

Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Uh.

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:46 (sixteen years ago) link

haha wtf. Internet full people who don't understand basic human interactions.

kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:47 (sixteen years ago) link

OK I am not sure but there was a post on CL recently saying that some dude named Ross was suspected of selling stolen bikes.

dan m, Thursday, 27 September 2007 21:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Because I have a taste for drama, I responded.

Why would I take up my time and yours to go see a bike that is I know from the measurements you told me is not suited to my height? I know from experience that I need a 18-19" bike.

But I do have a question for you--why don't you write an accurate ad and not turn into a fuming jerk at the drop of a hat? "GEEZ" indeed!

Apparently a local bar that I've previously written off as lame serves this:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1325/1373173673_51899f28d4.jpg

It seems like a great idea, although smores + drinking seems like not such a good idea.

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link

And that local bar is Cosi?

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:05 (sixteen years ago) link

no

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I have never been to one of those, but I guess they do the smores thing too?

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Some of them do. The ones that also serve liquor, I think.

jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:08 (sixteen years ago) link

I am going to see Eastern Promises tonight!

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:09 (sixteen years ago) link

river wolf, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:12 (sixteen years ago) link

cele....grating?

river wolf, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I think an annoying party is a celegration.

Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:14 (sixteen years ago) link

delilah's is out of my price range. i may be in uptown tonight if anyone is near the red line. or the ashland bus. or the irving park bus, or the clark bus, or the sheridan bus...

chicago kevin, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:17 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't think i've even been to delilah's.

tonight: STNNNG v. Melvins v. staying at home like a responsible adult

river wolf, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:19 (sixteen years ago) link

delilah's = awesome punk rock bar and maybe the best selection of bourbon in the city.
