i love Colors of the Sun, too. you can't really listen to Z&A while sitting at the computer waiting for something to happen imo.

yeah i hoped the album you mention might place too but i dont think so now. Even though it came out in N America in 2011 its still a 2010 album to most people.
Pity, I was looking forward to lots of "I didn't know they had an album out this year" "oh its a different band of the same name?"

some really amazing guitars on this one but I can't get over the vocals - which for people who like it are probably the key to the record.

My first place vote, absolutely love this album but I think this was pretty well hashed out in the singles results thread.

really great record

have been following this discussion pretty well, i never knew how many haters there are on ilm.

was really enthused about this when it dropped, can listen to some tracks in isolation, but that's about it

it's a fabulous record, i'd like to see it place higher. concerns about the length and sameiness are well-founded but it just sounds so good i don't really care.

how can someone listen to a band who gives itself such a moronic name? after i had listened to their album i knew why, apparently the only memorable thing about them is their name.

Giving this a listen now. I expect to like it unless the vox are as bad as made out. but if its not death metal cookie monster grunting then the vox are prob fine

ok nothing wrong whatsoever with these vox

funny thing about that fucked up record is that while i wasn't really feeling it at the time (standard complaints about the vocals) and still can't sit through the whole thing at once, i almost always dig the individual tracks when they come up on shuffle - especially if, as on "queen of hearts", they've got someone else singing for a bit. if i'd done a tracks ballot, that song would have scored high.

i like fucked up but the whole thing of people marveling about OMG A SHOUTY HARDCORE BAND GOT A BONER FOR THE SOFT BULLETIN gets a bit much

It's good stuff, just way too long and relentless for me to have ever heard the entire thing in one listening. Queen Of Hearts was one of my favourite tunes of the year, the rest does pretty much the same thing in different ways.

what in the world does the soft bulletin have to do with that fucked up record?

seriously these vox are no different to all the hardcore vox i listened to in the 90s. What is so off-putting other than the fact you maybe dont dig hardcore? Contenderizer im surprised at you re the vox.

Nothing really sticks out on Days (the cover is appropriate) but what a great vibe. I found myself listening to it three or four times in a row at work.

Hmm...have to say I dug the previous album but this was a big let-down ("It's Real") aside.

if it is Lex, p4k is improving.

yeah it doesn't 'feel' like a #1 album of the year, but i returned to it a ton, and it's so, so good at what it does that i just played it more than anything last year

i like this record, didn't make my ballot but the first few tracks are especially nice, and i love the hypnotic groove the last track settles into at the end

well i like the fucked up record so far so you cant say it about me.
but BM vox are different to hardcore and clearly some prefer one to the other (or hate both)

Man, "Green Aisles" totally stands out for me, but the vibe on the whole record is fantastic.

I hope they explore the sound of that last cut a bit further. Really nice evolutionary step.

The Real Estate is another one I voted for. Very monochromatic, but for this type of music that's a compliment. Sort of early REM meets Unrest meets Heavenly. Nails that wistful-happy-sad vibe perfectly.
