This is the point I realise that Yob wont place :( I knew Corrupted wouldn't. The top of metal poll doesn't always translate over to doing well in big poll.

I'm not even sure the metal poll winner will place now.

I think "Manic"/"Undecided" were great but not sure how well the Azari & III hangs together as an album - better than the new H&LA, but not a patch on, say, the H&LA debut.

I voted for both Danny and Kendrick (the latter of whom was my #4), so stuff it, lex!

I'm running a bit behind here, but just chiming in to say I really enjoy that Laura Marling album. It's got kind of a '70s singer-songwriter vibe to my ears: sprawling song structures, wide dynamics (too few albums recorded with headroom like that these days), confessional lyrics. Not sure exactly who it reminds me of. I also dig her voice a lot. My fave track is probably "Salinas" but there are many good ones. They're best heard in the context of the album though. I should probably go back and check our her previous work.

ASAP Rocky 'Wassup' probably ended up my favourite Clams production jobbie of the year.

Lil B 'Motivation' killer also, yeah. Can't see a Lil B record scraping in here, iirc 'Angel's Exodus' was hovering around the bottom end of my ballot.

Yeah the Laura Marling was a great discovery for me, I really like the vibe.

I would add Lil B's "What You Doin" to the Clams list

Everyone on ILM seemed to love the Hatchback record; I thought it was a bit nothingy, and nowhere near as good as his previous one, Colors of the Sun. I should give it another go.

i love Colors of the Sun, too. you can't really listen to Z&A while sitting at the computer waiting for something to happen imo.

yeah i hoped the album you mention might place too but i dont think so now. Even though it came out in N America in 2011 its still a 2010 album to most people.
Pity, I was looking forward to lots of "I didn't know they had an album out this year" "oh its a different band of the same name?"

some really amazing guitars on this one but I can't get over the vocals - which for people who like it are probably the key to the record.

My first place vote, absolutely love this album but I think this was pretty well hashed out in the singles results thread.

really great record

have been following this discussion pretty well, i never knew how many haters there are on ilm.

was really enthused about this when it dropped, can listen to some tracks in isolation, but that's about it

it's a fabulous record, i'd like to see it place higher. concerns about the length and sameiness are well-founded but it just sounds so good i don't really care.

how can someone listen to a band who gives itself such a moronic name? after i had listened to their album i knew why, apparently the only memorable thing about them is their name.
