I don't have th QOTSA album, didn't think it would be my thing. Caught that video halfway through last night and had no idea who it was 'til the end. Impressed enough to consider buying.

I remember being ridiculously excited for the Sisters of Mercy's "This Corrosion", and I don't even know why because it's a terrible video, but every time I hear the song, every image comes out in my brain.

I really blocked out a lot of videos though. My mom remembers me doing a mean imitation of the Papa Don't Preach dance, which apparently really stuck in her head as upsetting cos I was like 7 then, I think.

I haven't had MTV in my house for a long, long time (early 80s when I was a toddler), but every once in a while I'd get to see it at my Grandma's house. One afternoon in 1992, I was over there with my dad, and we decided to spend the whole afternoon watching MTV. They played alot of videos back then. I remember seeing the first two Nirvana "Nevermind" videos, a couple Guns'n'Roses ("Don't Cry" and either "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" or "November Rain"), Sir MixAlot's "Baby Got Back", Metallica's "Enter Sandman", Salt'n'Peppa's "Let's Talk About Sex", and Queen's "We Are The Champions" (It was a live montage, and was aired because some kids wanted to sing it at graduation somewhere, and they were voted done by the PTA because Freddie Mercury died of AIDS. It was on MTV news)

But the one that really fucked me up was XTC's "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead". You know, the video with a the faux JFK stuff in it. I haven't seen it again in the 11 years since that day, but man I still think that video is cool.

the Alicia Silverstone trilogy of Aerosmith videos for 'Cryin', 'Amazing' and 'Crazy' made me like the songs a hell of a lot more

Everyone needs to stop making music videos. It doesn't get better than this (warning NSFW):

Creating a thread because (a) feel a need to share this weird thing and (b) can't find a relevant one to put it in.
