I need to live alone. Or at least with someone whose as much of a neat freak as I am.

Proof: the way my roommate has magazines stacked on the bookshelf in our living room pisses me off. Guh!

tanuki, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 18:51 (twelve years ago) link

my god

judith, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 18:56 (twelve years ago) link

i actually live with people who are the exact right level of neat for me. its not a pigsty but there isn't shit lying around or anything.

judith, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 18:56 (twelve years ago) link

I know, it's so stupid and I've had roommates who were much worse! (like the fake-jewish pothead who used to live here)

You would love the sprawling piles of the NY Times that occupy floorspace in my apt.

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 19:25 (twelve years ago) link

morbs i just feel like we would be perfect housemates.

judith, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 19:25 (twelve years ago) link

well if you hear of a place in London that needs a proofreader of American English LMK.

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 19:28 (twelve years ago) link

Morbs I'm sure we'd have a lot to talk about and the value of your presence would make up for any slovenliness, whereas this roommate never initiates conversations ever and is just kind of boring

tanuki, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 19:32 (twelve years ago) link

so i ran into a guy i went on a date with over a year ago at an art opening last week and we hung out again tonight. he's kinda terrific and i'm not sure why we let that year+ elapse in the first place, but um...i don't want that to happen again.

My boy and I just saw HIDE/SEEK this weekend, spent way longer than we had anticipated it was so good. Noticed they mostly steered away from embellishment and camp and stuck more to what I might call sensuality and reverence, I think this payed off. We both wanted the catalog but it's like 15 dollars cheaper off amazon so that's to come. Totally recommended queer coffee table art book: Some Faggy Gestures by Henrik Olsen.

I'm new, I'm new! Scott here.

Prince Rebus (donna rouge), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 01:50 (twelve years ago) link

so are you visiting Gotham or residing, scott?

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 01:51 (twelve years ago) link

Just visiting. We came up to see Bjork on friday and spent the night at my cousin's in Brooklyn and had an excellent weekend of museums and generally arty things plus a bit of shopping natch.

If anyone wants something authentically romantic visit the NY Hall of Science—huddled together observing microbes under the 'scope + taking turns demonstrating optical illusions + hall of mirrors, I can't even tell you how magical this was.

I had an inkling that it might be you we were to partake in Crash with. Sorry about the no-show; another time most definitely. Brooklyn Museum really engaged us for way longer than we were expecting. I'm thinking of getting an artist's membership to Moma for the film screenings, so there's that in the future perhaps.

“Unlike most artworks in a museum, you are allowed to touch this piece and to take away a piece of candy. Gonzalez-Torres made this artwork in memory of Ross Laycock. At the time the work was created, Ross had recently died of causes related to AIDS. The candy pile starts each day at 175 pounds, which was Ross’ ideal body weight. As visitors take candy, the pile gets smaller. This process mimics Ross’ weight loss as a result of his illness. Museum staff replenishes the candy regularly. Gonzalez-Torres’ decision to portray Ross with multicolored, shiny candies was a thoughtful one. Seeing such a large pile of candy on the floor stimulates notions of abundance, sweetness, and happiness—feelings associated with Ross, which the artist wished to share with viewers in a unique way.”

Also, in the first room with the older photographic prints, they were playing music from this compilation

http://www.discogs.com/Various-AC-DC-Blues-Gay-Jazz-Reissues-Volume-One/release/860313

which I haven't been able to track down, but looks AMAZING.

I don't think I took a candy in D.C.

i once took one of the sheets from the gun violence paper stack, followed by everyone else in the gallery rushing to take one

Prince Rebus (donna rouge), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 16:25 (twelve years ago) link

i did this at the frieze fair once and got a mean look from the woman who was minding the stand. i told her that if she wanted to display a fgt she had to learn how to be generous.
